Great satisfaction inn

Hot springs are good first. Even I, who usually have bad sleep, was able to wake up comfortably the next morning without having to wake up in the middle of the night after a blast of sleep. The water temperature in the open-air bath was my favorite, so was it good to have a longer bath? There is no slackness after bathing.
Meals are served in just the right amount, so you can eat them evenly. Still, Matsutake mushrooms from Bessho Onsen are delicious. One of the most impressive dishes was dobinmushi (steamed earthenware bottles). It was delicious while retaining the aroma of matsutake mushrooms. I also want to make rice balls with matsutake mushrooms and take them home. Another thing to note is the sukiyaki of Shinshu Premium Beef. It's quite filling because one piece of meat is big. It became a luxurious Matsutake beef bowl when it was placed on rice.
I guess the staff's excellent customer service and comfortable atmosphere at the ryokan, which doesn't make non-clerky people uncomfortable, have earned them high marks.
I was impressed with the care shown by the male staff at check-out.
On the other hand, there were times when I felt that it was unlikely. First of all, the staff at the door asked for the name of the person making the reservation at check-in, but they repeatedly confirmed that they couldn't find my name. At dinner, there was an item on the table with a name, but a different person's name. Both were unpleasantly impossible, but when it was over it was a very satisfying inn.

Clean, walkable from station (if no rain), spacious rooms, warm service, tasty food. Best was the fantastic roof top onsen view of the mountain town and forests! One of the staff Hoshino-san was helpful with his English & Mandarin translations.

Jewel like onsen ryokan

What a wonderful semi-western Japanese ryokan. We took the little train from Ueda and Nakamatsuya picked us up from the Bessho station for a 3 minute ride. Checked into a front facing room with self-contained private onsen bath. Delicious Kaiseki dinner and Japanese breakfast for our group of 10 friends. All in all, a little jewel, conveniently located in the little quaint village of Bessho. highly recommend.

Autumn is all about matsutake mushrooms

I stayed at Nakamatsuya in Bessho Onsen for the first time in a year. Upon arrival, I was greeted by the familiar landlady and staff, who said "Welcome back," and headed to my room on the sixth floor. I took a relaxing bath before dinner, and then headed to dinner. For dinner, I went to the restaurant on the second floor. Tonight, we had a matsutake kaiseki meal, which is only available at this time of year. The staff grilled the grilled matsutake on the spot. The freshly grilled matsutake had a crunchy texture and a perfect aroma. I enjoyed my once-yearly luxury meal with matsutake to my heart's content, including matsutake dobinmushi, tempura, and matsutake rice. The breakfast here was made with newly harvested rice, harvested by the staff, who are also rice farmers. The hoba miso I had for the first time was also delicious. After breakfast, I visited the nearby Kitamuki Kannon temple, and then left after being seen off by the staff. As always, the service from the landlady and the waitresses was heartfelt and wonderful.

Excellent experience and staff, food to die for

This Onsen hotel was to die for. The service and amenities were great. The staff endlessly accommodating. The view from the Onsen on the 7th floor is great. The food and beverage are way more than a human should eat :-), but are tasty and presentation was top notch.
