Well-cleaned rooms, delicious food, great rock bath

I was running with the car window open a little bit, and if I could smell sulfur, I'd get close. The staff will kindly guide you to the parking area. The facilities and equipment feel old, but they are well cleaned. The cozy lounge has a nice atmosphere with travel and tourism magazines. There is also a smoking space where smoke does not leak. Both dinner and breakfast in the upstairs hall. The pork shabu-shabu for dinner and the rice (Hanoenuki from Yamagata Prefecture) were delicious. Breakfast was also delicious, with local specialties, curry and rice, shrimp shumai, small bowls of meat miso, and fatty grilled salmon. The inner bath of the large public bath, where you can feel the warmth of wood, is light greenish milky white and simmery. The open-air bath is a large rock bath. A whole large rock in the bathtub. The whole rock is whitened by the hot spring ingredients. There was also a pot bath where you could relax. The faucets in the washroom were all blackened, and the hot springs shone brightly. Overall, the satisfaction was very high, and it was a ryokan I wanted to visit again.

Lovely Stay with Warm Service

Antique-style hotel with excellent service. The hotel arranged a pick-up from the bus station, making our arrival very smooth. We stayed only one night but left with many good memories. In the evening, we walked to a nearby BBQ restaurant recommended by the hotel, which turned out to be a very lovely place for dinner. The breakfast was nice as well, although we had to leave quite early the next morning to catch our departure bus and did not have much time to enjoy the hotel.
Cleanliness could be improved, as some dust was noticeable in the room and there were rusty stains in the bathroom.

Note!!! - The main picture of the hotel (which appears to be of the property) on Expedia... is in fact about half a kilometre away and is of a public bath - not the property!!! Extremely misleading and needs to be removed.
The bedrooms have no windows.
The room was cleaned poorly.
The buffet breakfast was poor and food not kept hot. Only one juice (hope you like carrots). Coffee is watered down.
Coffee from coffee bar or breakfast area not allowed to be taken to your room. Extremely frustrating.
Also... could not use the restaurant there unless booked prior to the stay.
Shuttle bus to pick us up was 15 mins late (despite the hotel being a minute or two drive away). Also.. would only drop upu back at the bus atop at two set times on a morning. Any other time and you had to walk yourselves.
Onsens were small for the amount of guests and frequently full.
The outside onsen was only for females.
The private onsen was $20 for an hour to use. Not sure why.
Not a bad stay... but you aren't getting what is advertised.

We had a room with half board and enjoyed the 24 hr Natural hot spring within the hotel. Free shuttle to the bus station after check out was helpful as it snowed the night before

The hotel is pretty well located. Only a few hundred metres away from the Base Centre.
Breakfast included and pretty well balance of dietary foods. I love the onsen
