Beyond Magical

If you visit Heraklion, Crete, and you should, you must stay at Vergis Epavlis. Away from the busy City atmosphere, this piece of heaven is set in the gorgeous village of Agios Myronas. Mr Stelious and his wonderful wife Stella own and operate this boutique gem. Nothing is too much trouble, they anticipate and exceed all levels of generosity, hospitality and kindness. You are treated like family and brought into their beautiful world. Stella cooks new dishes each day for her guests, showcasing the best of local, organic, DELICIOUS Cretan dishes. Its utterly divine. No effort is too great for them. Recommendations on what to see or do, or not are made freely as well as history lessons of this beautiful island and country. Restaurant reservations are made for you and they drove us to and from said Tavernas. Incredible. We stayed in the Rafkos, Presidential room. Wonderful. All the amenities you would need and more. 2 bedroom, lounge, kitchen, 2 bathroom. Mr Stelios connected the TV to additional channels to ensure we could watch the World Cup live. Very appreciated. A welcome bottle of wine on arrival, daily edible treats, stunning pool that overlooks an incredible vista. The staff were so lovely and professional. Vergis Epavlis cannot be spoken of highly enough. Stunning in everyway. Stelios, Stella are to be congratulated for what they have created and maintained. A place you will never forget and revisit often. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

ATTENTION CLOSED AND IS FOR SALE!!!! FINGER AWAY!

ATTENTION! I almost booked it for our family holiday, if you type in the address on Google, it appears “permanently closed”. After querying a Facebook group, I got feedback from a user whose family lives in the place that it is closed and for sale. Too bad that a holiday provider like TUI offers such properties.

A small slice of paradise

Stayed in Flowers suite, excellent amenities, clean and very comfortable. Breakfast each morning was a delight with Stella our host freshly preparing dishes to try in addition to the buffet, she even packed food for us to eat later - fabulous! Good tavernas in surrounding villages. Very relaxing and enjoyable holiday with no sign of refugees anywhere on the island - we will be back!

Best Cretan Hospitality

We are just finishing a 9 day visit to Vergis Epavlis "the Vergis Mansion" here in Agios Mironas, central Crete. The 4 suited boutique hotel just South of Heraklion is a wonderful experience of Cretan hospitality due to Stella and Stellios Vergis who own and manage this jewel with a huge sense of graciousness and generosity. We were lucky to land in the Rafkos Balcony Suite which meant that our teenage son had his own space on a pull out sofa - we had ample additional space. The pristine pool- large enough for lengths overlooking the olive grove laden valley with vistas all the way to Heraklion was most inviting. Breakfast from the breakfast room offers wonderful views even before the day starts. This venue affords opportunity to explore Crete from all sides of the compass in easy day trips. We have had a wonderful time. Had we stayed longer Stella would have made sure we left quite a few kilograms heavier! nothing was too much trouble- and we can highly recommend her Moussaka!

Can't Wait to Return to this Slice of Heaven

If I could give this beautiful, family-run hotel a 10-star rating I would! My family and I were warmly and enthusiastically welcomed by our hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Vergis, even though we arrived quite late into the evening. We were treated like family throughout our stay, beginning with a delicious, home-cooked breakfast the following morning. After breakfast, Mrs. Vergis gathered us around and gave us an overview of the island, along with her personal recommendations on what to see and where to dine. We took a short drive to the lively town of Knossos and visited the Minoan ruins. Our perfect day ended with a perfect meal at our local village’s taverna. Our spacious room was immaculate, modern and very well appointed, with many extras like thick bath towels, robes, and a large jacuzzi tub. We enjoyed the privacy of our beautiful patio as well as the stunning surrounding gardens and large, well-maintained pool. We felt safe at all times and were very well cared for by our hosts. Needless to say, we can’t wait to return to this “slice of heaven!” Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Vergis for a most memorable and heartwarming stay.
