3rd year in a row…. We will be booking for a 4th

This is 3rd time back, and when we arrived (as with last time as well), we were remembered by all the staff, such as the cleaners, the owner (Bessie) and the pool bar staff.
When you arrive in Skiathos airport, if you book as a package holiday, you get a transfer down to the port which is only about 5-10 minutes, so not too long. After a couple of hours to relax in a bar in Skiathos the rep will then pick you up at a designated place to take you to the ferry which will take you to Alonnisos. This ferry takes between 1 - 2 hours depending which ferry you get. It stops off at Skopelos first, which is where they filmed Mamma Mia. Once in Alonnisos, it is easy enough to book a ferry for the day to go back to Skopelos to do a Mamma Mia tour if you want. You can speak to someone in Albedo Travel who are based just on the marina they’ll be able to advise on this along with any other questions you have when you are in Alonnisos. For the first time booking, I’d recommend booking as a package holiday but once see how it works, you may feel more confident to book it separately.
Once you’re at the hotel, you’ll be greeted by Bessie the owner who will take the tourist tax, which for Paradise Hotel is €5 per room per night. We stayed in room 209, which honestly has one of the best sea views from the hotel. For the best sea views, you’ll want rooms 201 - 210. The rooms are traditional Greek and are basic but the views that you get are better than any 5 star hotel in my opinion.
The pool area is lovely with comfortable sun beds and you don’t have to reserve the beds which is amazing. If you ask reception, they’ll provide you with towels for the sun beds. The pool bar bas a great snack selection and is reasonably priced. Bar staff - Elaina throughout the day and Chris throughout the evening are lovely and would remember your order if you get the same drink every time. The bar is open from around 10.30am and food is served to about 4 or 5pm ish.
Breakfast is nice and traditional Greek, so don’t expect a full English . You get food such as yogurt, toast, cake, omelette, fresh watermelon and a small selection of pastries. You get to sit outside with amazing views of the sea. Because it is quite a small breakfast area, if you are sociable, you get speaking to the other guests, and is actually a way we found good recommendations of what to do on the island, such as good restaurants or beaches to go to. If you don’t want to speak to other people, that’s fine. Also, there are always enough seats, in and out of the sun. There is no queuing for food.
It’s a short walk down to the main port of Patitri. Bessie will let you know the way on arrival. The island itself can be quite steep, especially if you’ve got mobility issues, so do keep that in mind, but most people should be fine. The port is stunning with a couple bars, a few supermarkets and restaurants. We’ve tried all the restaurants on the front now, and all of them are stunning. For 2 people, we end up usually spending about €35 - €40 euro’s for a main and a drink each. The supermarket on the front is good. Again they remembered us. A 6 pack or 1.5 litre water from here is €2.20 and the staff are very friendly. They sell all the essentials.
A visit to the old town is a must. Usually there’s a bus that runs which is €1.80 each way. A taxi is €10 each way if you’d prefer. We use Spiros taxi’s who are based on the front, and whenever we use them, we’ll arrange a pick up time. The beaches are all amazing. There’s a bus which takes you to a beach every day. Pick up for this is either 9:45am or 10:15 depending on the beach and pickup from the beach is around 4pm. Chrisi Milia is the only sandy beach but all beaches are absolutely stunning!
I would 100% recommend a visit to Alonnisos, and a stay at Paradise hotel. For us, there’s just something special about this small family run hotel in Alonnisos that we struggle to find at other places.

Magical place to have your holiday

This hotel is a gem of a place. We have never had such views. Utterly beautiful.
You are a short walk down into Patitiri harbour, 15 mins to a lovely beach. A bus or taxi upto the old town is a must. Great shops and restaurants up there and ..again...the views!
There are bus trips to other beaches and boat days out. Diving if that is what you like too. Lots to do or very little as suits you.
Bessie the owner is so friendly and always happy to help with what to do and where to go. All the staff at the Paradise hotel are lovely. Its kept spotlessly clean.
The pool is a delight and the sunbeds are super comfy with big umbrellas for shade. There are terraces with furniture so you can enjoy a seat looking out to sea. These finish at rocks where a ladder goes into the sea . Swimming there definitely a highlight for me.
Breakfast is plentiful, buffet style, continental and the coffee very good.
I am a fruit and yogurt person but my husband enjoyed his toast and eggs every morning.
Our room was fine for us, amazing view from the balcony, very comfy mattress and pillows, great linen and towels. Again very clean.
I know there have been comments about the bathrooms on other reviews but just consider how little time you spend in there! Its definitely not a deal breaker for us...please don't let it put you off staying here.
The bar serves a lunch menu which we sampled quite a few times. Lots on offer, well made, tasty and reasonably priced.
It's also a wonderful place to have a drink or two of an evening. Bessie and Kosta are often there and enjoy chatting with the guests about the island.
So to summarise its a lovely hotel, full of greek charm, with fabulous staff, owners who want you to have a wonderful holiday, set in a magical spot.
People come back here year after year ....some over 30 years we met ..I can see why and we will be returning.
Hope this helps anyone reading this review!

Great place to holiday

This hotel is in need of modernisation, it is 2026 and shower curtains are still being used!! Very dated in general! Saying that I was blown away when I opened the balcony doors, probably the best view I have ever had staying in a Greek hotel. The position of the hotel is also extremely good, being a short walk down into the harbour. The breakfast was a little boring and repetitive. No kettle in the room. Very small balcony.
Beach/pool towels provided, you have to ask for them. Pool area very nice, very comfortable sunloungers.
Had a great holiday on the Island, magical place. ☺️

Lovely But Needs Improvement

First , I will give you the good points of the hotel, set in a good location with just a short walk down to the harbour front. The breakfast were pretty good with plenty of choice but the hot food was no good for me as I am vegetarian and the egg dish always had meat in it buy saying that I never went away hungry. Pool area was lovely, and as other guests have said, the sunbeds were super comfy. Poolside bar did lovely snacks at lunchtime and had fabulous views. All the staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Our room was on the top floor of the new building. The balcony had great views of the pool and the sea in the distance. The actual room itself was a bit too small, don’t think I could’ve stayed there for two weeks, but we were only there for a week so that was okay. Could’ve done with a bit more space for clothes. Now to the BAD Points which was the bathroom, It was something out of the 70s, in fact I would say it was an accident waiting to happen. The shower was not attached to the wall but you had to hold it which is difficult when washing your hair, no grip rails on the walls, the water sprayed everywhere, no bath mats were provided so we put towels on the floor as we were so scared of slipping. In fact when we had a shower we wore beach shoes for extra safety. The toilet seat did not fit the actual toilet, but I suppose this was because the toilet was that old you couldn’t get a seat to fit it anymore. The wash basin was all cracked and alot of the tiling was black mould. I do think a bathroom is an important part of a hotel room as you are getting 2 showers a day and I did not feel safe showering at all ( we are in our 70s) I personally would not stay here again because of the bathroom which is a shame because it is such a lovely hotel.

Happy holiday destination

Friendly staff, great location, from the hotel you can enter the water. Nice bar that serves a nice lunch and drinks. Room is dated, too small shower with curtain, breakfast is meagre and the instant coffee is not to drink. But none of that should spoil the fun. This hotel on Alonissos is a great holiday destination.
