Absolute paradise
The apartments have very effective air con in the bedroom and the lounge (which can also be a bedroom), and black out shutters for a great night's sleep. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are spotless and cleaned daily. The wifi is generally reliable, but not for use for streaming or downloading large files. Hot water is also reliable in the powerful showers, which are also upright showers (none of which is guaranteed in Greece!) Like most Greek islands, the plumbing means that toilet paper goes in the bin, not the toilet, which takes a bit of getting used to, but that bin gets taken by the cleaner every day, so it's not a problem.
Because the second bed (converted comfortable sofa bed) is in the lounge/kitchen area which you have to pass through to get to the bathroom, I would say these are best suited for family groups rather than two sets of adults. There is enough crockery and cutlery to have salads etc comfortably, as well as a fridge, small freezer compartment, kettle and hob, though I would say that expecting to cook on the hob each night for catering could be difficult because of the small size of the kitchen and limited cooking equipment. We found it perfect for our needs, and there is also a barbecue outside you can use.
The higher cottages (e.g. Bluebell) really need a quad bike or a 4x4 vehicle to manage the slope, unless you are committed to developing your calf muscles on the steep walk upwards. But it is possible to do without a car, as it is so near to Skiathos town and Apostolos offers a free shuttle service into and back from town several times a day.
What is really special about this place is Litsa and Apostolos. The Greeks are known for their hospitality, but these guys go above and beyond. Water and fruit waiting in the fridge on arrival, lifts from the airport and stopping in at a supermarket on the way in case you need basics, and care throughout. We are a family with two ambulatory wheelchair users, so we thought the slope down to the pool would be impossible, but Litsa really worked with our limitations, and we made it work by driving a car down. There are a few steps up to each apartment (without a rail to hold onto) but some cottages have fewer steps. Each one is semi detached. When my husband had an urgent healthcare situation, Apostolos totally stepped into the breach.
These apartments are idyllic in their own right, but somehow Litsa and Apostolos make them more than the sum of their parts, and as a result, this is my happy place.
Top tips for Skiathos:
- Parking is getting harder and harder, and there are very few (one?) disabled spaces to park in. Don't park on the main road by the ferry port, even though you see loads of cars parked there: the port authority delights in ticketing whoever they can!
- The buses are frequent and run along the one main road of Skiathos island, dropping at beaches along the way, so it's a great way to travel. Taxis in abundance too.
- Our favourite restaurants are Akre (on the road between Skiathos Town and the cottages), Exantas (Megali Amos), both of which are pricy, and Amenos (overlooking the port) and Pyrofani for excellent Greek food. Reserve tables in advance for the tables on the edge with a view. The big supermarket does excellent fresh croissants in the morning and Doughhook (on the main road near Achladies) does amazing espresso, including decaf, and baklava.
- Wolt (delivery service like Deliveroo) is new to the island this year, and a total gamechanger. Get takeaways from shops, restaurants or cafes brought up to your cottage.
- Be aware that many beaches have sunbeds on them, but you have to pay. Prices vary between beaches, but we paid 30 Euros for a pair of sunbeds with an umbrella.
- Aghia Paraskevi is a great beach for accessibility as you can park really near the sunbeds, and from the front sunbeds it's literally two steps into the water, which shelves quickly so there's minimal effort in getting into the water. There is a taverna, too, with excellent smoothies and snacks.
- Normally, one of the highlights is the singalong Mamma Mia film at the outdoor cinema, for which you have to book well in advance (i.e. before you go on holiday). However, this year (2026) it was shut down with no real indication of when it could reopen.
A huge thank you to Litsa and Apostolos, who provide a slice of paradise for us each year.

They will also have a new “penthouse “ cottage available soon.
It was our 4th visit here and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended.
