Unique jungle stay

Utopia is an experience. The vegetarian food is fresh, varied and satisfying. The outlook from the communal space is serene and green. The staff and volunteers all want you to have a good time. Yoga in the shala in the morning is an incredible way to start the day. We had a cabin on the river and it was beautiful to fall asleep and wake up to the river flow. Pia and her team do everything they can to accommodate your needs and are always available to help out.

Jungle Paradise

The whole experience was amazing! Food, comfort, staff, excursions were all excellent. I highly recommend this hotel.

Jungle Oasis!

We loved our stay at the Utopia Eco Hotel. The owner and staff all went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. The food was very good, healthy and reasonably priced. The jungle setting on the river was amazing; we loved listening to the jungle noises while lying in our hammock. We enjoyed the cave tour and tubing organized by the hotel. We've been to a lot of places in Central and South America but found Utopia to be a special place to visit.

It's not utopia, it's forced displacement.

I was sorry to see that these hoteliers are buying the community land around them, forcibly displacing the kekchies who live there. Do not go to this place if you want to support forced displacement. They say they are sustainable development, but they are not, they disguise their sustainability business, but for kekchies families, they are not.

Beautiful and serene with a few mishaps.

It’s a 3.5 star. The Utopia
Hostel has a scenic view
lounge where the everyone hangs out. There are large wood furnitures, swings, and hammocks with free WiFi and drinkable water. The workers are hit or miss there. One was not sure about its services and prices. We had to ask other workers for clarification. The cabin by the river where we slept had a beautiful setting but it had a full blown sewer scent. It was hard to sleep through with the toilet air. Other than that, the hostel is beautiful and secluded in the nature. It had great food service - sit down dinner at 7pm with raw vegan snacks in the afternoon. Chocolate items were amazing and authentic.
