Decent stay in Puri
Heritage part has deluxe cottages and rooms. We stayed in the rooms which are on the first floor. The rooms don't have any balcony so a big drawback. The sea is visible through a large window. From the cottages which are at ground level, there is no visibility since foliages and trees are there. For seaview room, better to stay at Waves which has seaview rooms with balcony.
The breakfast served is decent and we liked it. The restaurant is good. Had a huge Odiya thali there. So huge that one thali was good enough for both of us. It had at least 16 different items. Taste wise very good.
Dimsum festival was on, wanted to have some but was told that it is only available if I come down to the restaurant and not available as in room dining. Since I was tired and didn't want to go down to the restaurant again, I couldn't try it and had to settle for the restricted room service menu only.
Should have rated 4.5 stars but since that option is not available I had to give 4 star.
A little bit of a lesser rating because few things were not to my liking. Like pool area shower stalls not clean, fire alarm started blaring at 2am. Had to rush out of my room, nobody available to explain anything. Had to come down to reception in my night suit only to be told by one single staff member available there that he doesn't know what has happened and probably it is nothing.
In short kind of mixed experience, some very good, some average. By the way Mayfair Gopalpur is way better than this Mayfair property.
