Centrally located, freshly renovated, truly Value-For-Money Property for classy, premium stay at budget price
Stayed in Standard Room for 4 nights /5 days during our Meghalaya Trip in March 2025. We were a little apprehensive about the property bcoz of the few harsh, negative reviews by some guests but fortunately we didn't experience any such shortcomings during our stay. Our stay was very comfortable and we strongly recommend this hotel to prospective tourists visiting Shillong.
The property looks little rundown from outside but the moment you step in the vibes change for the better. It's a newly renovated property hence in pretty good condition. Though categorised as 2 star property, it is nothing less than a 3 Star Hotel. The reception & lobby area is on the 1st floor and the rooms are on the 1st & 2nd floor. Nazmul Islam and Samir Chowdhary at the reception were always available to assist with a smile just like the rest of the team. Special thanks for arranging complimentary early check-in.
The Standard rooms are near and tidy, though a bit compact but have enough space for 2 persons. Amenities include a comfy bed with clean linen, 32" LCD TV, Intercom, small wardrobe and compact luggage rack, E-kettle ,24 hrs hot shower and elegantly furnished. The balcony with its unique sit-out facility is a cherry on the top. The complimentary breakfast is served at the restaurant on 1st floor from 7.30 am onwards and the entire F&B team under their Manager Sanjiv Sharma do a wonderful job. Typical B'fast served as buffet set up comprises of Puri Subzi or Parathas with Curd and pickle, boiled eggs and Omlette Bread, Bread Butter Jam Toast, juice and Tea/ Coffee. This restaurant team also checks with every guest in the evening if they would be interested in having dinner and also offer their recommendations as per guest preferences.
The location in Police Bazar area, the most touristy zone, is perfect with the CentrePoint junction just 500 m away to the left and the Bara Bazar, main local market, 500 m away to the right. Many restaurants & cafes, souvenir shops, supermarkets and malls in close vicinity.
This hotel can be considered for 4-5 days stay to explore Meghalaya. Meghalaya Tourism's Bus or Cab tours can be considered for sightseeing. Or, better option is to avail service of this very hotel for arranging the Cab Sightseeing trips at reasonable rates. Nazmul helped us with our 5 days Sightseeing trips covering Shillong local Circuit, Mawlynnong -Dawki Circuit, Cherapunji -Sohra Circuit, Nartiang Circuit and Mawsynram -Mawphlong Sacred Forest Circuit, at avj Rs 3000 per day (15000 fr 5 days) in Maruti Alto Car. We can also recommend our Alto Cab driver cum guide Wan Mazumdar (Mobile - 8136012699) for your Meghalaya Sightseeing Trips.
This property truly deserves 5 Stars but 1 Star deducted for 3 reasons viz No dedicated Parking area, no elevator & the housekeeping and room-service guys need to be groomed for basic hospitality standards for better interaction with guests as they are a bit raw, untrained.
We will surely return to stay here during our next Shillong holiday.

Worst hotel, unprofessional staff and pathetic rooms
One of my worst decision to stay in Indiana hotel. Hotel rooms are look like a damp dark village rooms. No paint on the wall, seepage wall, dirty ceiling fan , cemented wall corner and very untidy washroom.
Rooms are small and congested. Outside window there is no view but yes you will get a view of other hotel room. Staff are so unprofessional, they won’t return your money if you paid in advance. Raju sunar and his manager didn’t coperate with refunding process. I booked a room with breakfast package after seeing the condition of the room I decided to quit next day early morning and requested Raju to refund the breakfast package and charge me the room tariff. I stayed for 5 hours and paid the entire amount. The entire staff of Indiana is “Lutiyans” i suggest everyone not to stay in this hotel for future.

AVOID Hotel Indiana
Was on a trip to Shillong with Parents Age 77 & stayed for 1 night @ Hotel Indiana...(1) Only +ve abt hotel is its near to center point (2) Bedsheets were not changed after earlier guest checked out (3) no hot water in any of their rooms (4) Security guy provide hot water in buckets, (5) Cancellation charge of Rs1000 billed to me as i decided to leave hotel 1 day early, but no bill provided. There are many good options available in Shillong like Ladybird. Just AVOID Hotel Indiana....

Good location !!
We stayed for just a night as we wanted to walk around Police Bazaar and Bara Bazaar. Very centrally located. You cannot take your car to the entrance as it is right in the market street, however there are parking available just 2 mins walk. And if you call beforehand about parking they try to arrange that too. We were offered parking at their garage. Check-in was ok, rooms are very tiny but clean and staffs were helpful. We forgot something after check-out and they kept it in reception for collection later. Only thing I won’t give a 5 star is because the night was very cold and we were not provided heaters. I would suggest requesting this in reception during check-in in winter. It might be a bit noisy in the night due to the location.

Overall good stay for 3 nights in Shillong
Looking at other reviews, I don't think same about this hotel property. All my views are as per my own experience.
Pros :
# Great Location. It is in Police Bazaar area. Just 500 meter away from 5 point crossing of Police Bazaar. It is good for them who wants to stay at heart of the city. If you want serenity, then I'll not suggest to choose this place.
# Room was neat and clean. We took Room#204 & 205 which are facing to GS Road.
#They clean the room everyday and change the towels/bed linen.
# Bathroom/Toilet is excellent. Looks like it has been renovated very recent. Running hot water is available in morning time which is quite essential in Shillong.
# We booked for 2 nights through Oyo and 1 night through MakemyTrip. Booking was hassle free but would suggest to book through Oyo only. I had problem with booking amount when booked through Makemytrip. After informing MMT, they initiated the return of extra amount charged.
# Complimentary breakfast was provided and it was sufficient.
# Behavior of hotel stuff was excellent. Specifically want to mention the name of Mr. Sanjib (F&B Manager). He is very helpful guy.
# Quality of the food was excellent. We took lunch and dinner for couple of days and satisfied with their service and quality.
Cons :
- There is no parking facility. If you are bringing own car or with chauffeur, make sure that you have parking arrangement. Our Chauffeur parked at Police Bazaar area during night time and they charged 100/- night. So, it is extra for you!!
- Rooms are in smaller size but it is OK for 2 persons and if you want to stay couple of nights.
- Running hot water is available in morning. They switch off the boiler in afternoon. So, specifically ask them need hot water in evening too. We faced the same issue in first evening but it was fine from next day.
Overall, it is Very good stay as per my experience.
