Stay here.
If you are looking for something cheap but good sleep (private and not shared) stay here. I stayes for 75k rp! And i had a delish breakfast, great customer service and a good night sleep. The bathroom is not private and its basic but worth the price. People are very friendly and helpful here. You can also rent a bike from them for 100k or so. Humble but great. Sheets and bed was clean and sleep was good. Next morning up to kelimutu, came back and i wanted to sleep in again so i stayed. Great place. Book here.

Worst than terrible
We got there late evening, after our driver recommended us to stay there, and called to inform we would arrive late.
We got assigned the only bungalow available, informing us the good one was already occupied, it was completly dirty, bedsheets were smelly and in the toilet there was not even a shower, just humidity and insects. Not even a key, just a “toy locker”. And no wifi or hot water.
We negociated the price down to 100K, but after trying to ask a drink and some dinner, we really saw this was out of limits, when we were offered water in glasses with a “dark shadow” on them while seating in a table fully covered by cigarrete ashes.
Eventhough we decided to leave, they charged us 70K for the dinner we did not have.

Bungalow can be a bit more modern ! But still ok

Basic accommodation in beautiful surroundings
It's hard to comments on this place and I'll explain why.
The accommodation is very basic. It's clean, but very basic. Especially the bathroom is sort of primitive. No flushing toilet, you will need a bucket, and no warm shower. This last fact isn't a problem normally in Indonesië to outside temperature. However, it is quit cold during night here, below 20 degrees Celsius, which means that the water is also very cold. Talking a shower is therefore a very cold adventure.
When reading this, you would think I will not recommend this place. However, the price you pay is more than very reasonable given the basic accommodation. So if you don't need a more western style bathroom, please do book this accommodation. It is good value for money!
Apart from this, the surroundings are beautiful. The walk to town takes about 15 min and is really nice. And Robert and his family are lovely people with a big heart.
Robert can organise taxis for you and also can provide transport to Kelimutu.
So, if you don't mind basic, do book this! It's adventure and pure experience. And the price is interesting as well.

We left!
Unreliable reservation/booking service: We left the place because it was overbooked, though we had a reservation for which we already paid.
Luckely there are many other options in the centre of Moni.
We are experienced travellers and acknowledge that reservations can go wrong. However, this low score is mainly influenced by the fact the the owner did not help us to find us another accommodation in Moni (for example, by calling other home stay owners to find out whether they had any room available) so we had the start looking ourselves in the late afternoon.. The low score is also influenced by the fact that the owner tried to sell us another bungalow at his premise that shouldn’t be on the market anymore. You should imagine a crumbling shed, black-moulded bamboo walls, rooftop bending inwards due to moist and woodrot, dirty matress, open latrine-pit outside, cracks in the walls etc... He offered us this as a “cheaper” option but really this kind of sleeping place is an offense for the tourism sector in Indonesia (which we like(d) a lot!)...
