Excellent accomodation Under New Management

Such a lovely house to stay in. Had everything we needed for our family. The Manager of the complex Ebby was fantastic and very easy to deal with. He had no problem getting us a grill pan for the grill.
The accomodation was clean and well laid out.
I would recommend this to any family thinking of coming to Co. Clare

Great Air B&B but run down area

We decided to spend a few days over the Christmas in Bunratty this year to do something different and go to the wonderful Bunratty festival trail of lights. Our private air b&b was superb and was ideal for being close to everything in bunratty.
But…and it’s a big but…the air b&b is unfortunately in a place called castle gardens which is so rundown and dilapidated due we can only assume is because there is no obvious management on site. The pot holes on the road in and in the car park are disgraceful and quite frankly dangerous. Walking around the area there are open rubbish bags outside houses with rubbish strewn everywhere. Such a pity as this lets down the operator of the air b&b who we understand pay management fees. We cannot fault our host (review left for them on air b&b) but if I owned a property in castle gardens I would be extremely disappointed with whoever is supposedly managing the facilities.

Awful condition houses

I booked this house for a family wedding and location was exactly where i needed, however i booked for 6 people with 1 double room and two twin rooms, we arrived after hours to be told door was open and key inside, which was ok, no note to say we were in the right place. Found out immediately we had two double rooms and only one twin room and on ringing the management person to be told we don't have houses with that spec.
I pointed out on the website of Trident homes who we booked through it states 1 x double & 2 x twin, i rang Trident homes to be told they need to speak to a supervisor & have our details, later that day just got a text from manager to say we are moving to another house, great but 2 days in the wrong house & only moved as someone was checking out.
On getting the next house we went out for the day & on return no power as the switch for the hot water trips the power after 5 mins, manager told me if i want hot water to put the heating on which was not ideal as the weather was pretty warm.
Both houses were very old and outdated and furniture was like for a student basic and cheap.
A lot of the rentals are let out to some college as young students in uniforms in & out all the time and some houses are with owners in so not really a holiday village the site was dirty with rubbish on the floors in the communal bin area and all bins full.
The mattresses were very old with springs pushing through as stated in a review 2 years ago, you have to rent towels for the stay, the water system has a pump which rattles the doors when a tap is turned on it's so loud, not great if you have young people sleeping. There were dogs roaming around off lead.
In the second house we had an awful sewer smell coming into all of the bathrooms which was very unpleasant, shower's could not be adjusted as the locks were broken so had to stoop under to use.
As stated in other much older reviews the TV's must be 15 years old and very basic. The windows are very old wooden sash that make for a cold house.
You get one paper thin pillow per bed which led to a few sore necks.
I could go on but it's depressing me after a great week back in Ireland thank god we had plenty of family to visit.

Run down and questionable

We booked Castle Gardens based on location and it did not disappoint, Bunratty is a great place to base yourself for travelling around Clare/Limerick. Lovely bars and restaurants within walking distance. What did disappoint is the condition of what we stayed in, very rundown, taps loose, minimum cook ware, mattresses very old and uncomfortable and absolutely filthy. Our biggest issue was safety concerns, broken bench out the back and also a broken fence - not safe for the children. The heating is Gas boiler but we were concerned when switched it on as to the noise emanating from it and not service sticker in site.
As another reviewer has mentioned, great opportunity for this place, but it seriously needs investment/management.

Stay if you are realistic and you have price checked...location was brilliant

The cottages are in poor repair, the fencing was poor, the gardening needs to be done, the bench outside house 46 had nails sticking out and was in poor repair, the estate in rundown, potholes and major issues with derelict buildings at the entrance of the estate. The mattresses are very poor, lumpy and springs sticking out, one shower could not be used as the shower head hook was broken, to make matters worse we were charged €1074 by booking.com, compared to €630 had we gone with rent an irish cottage, worktops in kitchen needs to be replaced, the duvets were dirty and need to be replaced, the cottage was clean enough, the taps in the bathrooms were also needed replacing as they moved when you turned them on, the windows in most cases were ill fitting... If this estate was done up it would be amazing.... the location is great, accessible to many great facilities and attractions etc...

Very good location
