Beautiful location, excellent restaurant

Hotel 1001 Nott was our favorite hotel during our 11-night trip to Iceland. We stayed two nights here. It was also the most expensive, because we had the King Suite, since it was all that was left when I booked. But I don't regret it - our room was a beautiful corner room, with a large glassed-in sunroom attached to it. We had a view of the mountains from the sunroom, and the lake from the bedroom. (Our friends had a standard room, and they were happy with it.) This was the best Continental-style breakfast we had on our trip - there were waffles and several kinds of freshly baked pastries in addition to several selections of fresh fruit, breads, cheese, and meat. We had dinner in the restaurant one night, and it was delicious. One of the top two best meals of our trip - and better than our meal at a pricey restaurant in Reykjavik. The menu doesn't offer a lot of variety, but what they did serve they prepared very well. Like everything in Iceland it's not cheap, but Egilsstadir is less than 10 minutes away and offers a few other less expensive options. The staff was also excellent - everyone we spoke to was very personable and helpful.

Wow

Enchanting place, given that we had booked the lake-view suite, the property is very well built anyway, it is located far from the road so it is very quiet, the view from our room was wonderful and relaxing, the only flaw was that other guests passed near our room for walks around the property.
Scenic benches overlooking the river and an outdoor jacuzzi also available to guests.
Excellent breakfast and very kind staff.
Highly recommended.

Very good.

A very good option to discover the East of Iceland. The room was very comfortable with a beautiful view. The breakfast is quite satisfactory. There are two hot baths overlooking a lake. The location is extremely quiet. It's a pity there isn't a larger bar area to enjoy a drink at the end of the day.

The young lady who checked us in was friendly and welcoming. Our room faced the river and we had a lovely view. The breakfast was fresh and tasty.

Good hotel, some things could be improved

The property itself is beautiful. The view from the our room facing the lake was wonderful. The rooms were very clean, modern, and new. Hot tub was also nice. Somethings could have been improved - there is no shower curtain so the water goes everywhere, windows open just an inch and room was hot and stuffy to sleep in, no body lotion or conditioner. Breakfast was good. Pillows were awful, so flat I had to use two on top of each other.
