Take into account for a tour of the Castelli Romani!

I stayed one night in this hotel for a business trip and I must say I was very satisfied!
The vintage charm and location of the property, with the wonderful view of the lake, are certainly very impressive. Modern and equipped with every comfort the room I was assigned. Friendly staff. Good food, both for dinner and breakfast the next day, very rich.

Go for it!

We spent one night at the hotel Castel Vecchio at the end of December. Everything went very well. The view is stunning, as the castle is located on a cape on the Albano lake. There is a spacious private carpark for the guests. We chose a superior room with a magnificient lake view. The rooms are renovated with taste, the mattress is comfortable and the bathroom is spacious and elegant. We liked the marble on the floor and the big shower. Rooms have air conditioning, and even though outside was freezing, our room was warm. We left the window shutters open to enjoy the light of the dawn in the morning. The common spaces, like the lobby, the breakfast room and bar, have old style furnitures, big old paintings and a white piano. We liked this old fashion style, but nowadays many tourists prefer fancier stuff. This explains some negative reviews that we read on Tripadvisor. On the roof there are three terraces and a small outdoor swimming pool (which is obviously closed during the winter). The breakfast was ok. We definetely recommend this hotel for a romantic escape, but people also book it to celebrate marriages or private parties. The restaurant was closed therefore we cannot assess the quality of the food. There is an internal swimming pool but it is for decorative purpose only. It’s a pity because the access to a ln indoor pool and a small fitness club during the winter would certainly be an added value. Some common areas and the elevator are a bit smelly, but this could be easily improved with charming ambient parfums that are used by the hotels more and more. The castel is 5 minutes walking from Castel Gandolfo’s city center and the Apostolic Palace, the traditional summer residence of the Popes, which was transformed in a museum. Apparently Pope Leo goes to Gastel Gandolfo very often, unlike is predecessor, Pope Francis. But when he goes there, Pope Leo happens to stay in another Vatican’s property, not far from the Castel Vecchio hotel. All in all we definetely recommend this hotel, notably for a romantic stay.

Enchanting night

Beautiful structure, well cared for in detail, friendly and available staff, impeccable hospitality. We had a great time; the room with a lake view was spectacular.
I gave 5 stars because they are well deserved; the only slightly disappointing thing was the breakfast, but this is not a criticism, just encouragement to do better.

Very clean structure
Parking quite convenient
Strategic location but above all a view of the lake that is not describable
Only note : the double bed did not have the single mattress but two singles therefore quite uncomfortable

Out of time

A fairytale hotel in a fairytale location. It seems to be out of time.
We stayed only one night but enough to appreciate the quality of this 1930 villa... all perfectly renovated. The staff is prepared efficient and HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL.
Only breakfast in the magical silence of the lake is worth the trip.
