Simply Spectacular
The stunning beauty of this bed-and-breakfast is only out done by the gracious and thoughtful service. It is wonderful as a base for exploring the area. It’s probably best to bring your own car. We spent several days exploring Como, Varenna, Mennagio, and Brunate. Highly recommend.

Great villa, a really nice place to relax.
What a villa, what a location,
we were there for two days in late May 2025. An oasis of tranquillity in the hustle and bustle of Como. A bit difficult to find, but when you are there, an incredibly nice place to relax.
Should we come to the area again, we will stay there again.

Very atmospheric and friendly
The small hotel with just a few rooms is housed in a villa dating back to the Wilhelminian period. The building is surrounded by a beautiful garden. Everything is very tastefully decorated and in keeping with the style of the house. The highlight is the library. The rooms are spacious. No two rooms are the same. The hotel owners are very friendly. It's actually a beautiful place that you could enjoy. However, there is one thing that annoyed us and puts the whole stay in a bad light. The room prices are not cheap at around 300 euros per night. We could have overlooked the cold water in the shower and the lack of coffee in the morning in Italy (the coffee machine was broken) if we hadn't been charged a "late arrival" fee. If you arrive after 7 p.m. you will be charged a surcharge of 20 euros, and if you arrive after 9 p.m. you will be charged a whopping 50 euros, which you have to pay in cash to the owners, supposedly because of the inconvenience. As we found out, the owner's family lives next door. Unfortunately, that is an absolute "no go" for us and should be included in the price. You also feel like you've been completely taken for a ride when you find out that the "circumstances" of the owner's family are that they have to go out of the house and unlock the door. Unfortunately, all the sympathy and the coziness and beauty of the house and garden can't help. So unfortunately, only 2 points.

Fantastic Hideaway!!!
We have been in this wonderfull resort of Ronco dell Abate in Como beginning of July during the heat of Italy this year for the very first time but…….for sure NOT for the last time.We had an incredible good experience with this marvelous place, qua service (Therese!!!),room,furniture,peaceful place,perfect breakfast and a perfect setting to expire the Lake Of Como and surroundings.
So we were extremely satisfied with this wonderful Stop during our Italy trip and you will see us back for 100 % SURE.

Beautiful place with some issues
We stayed here with my wife for one night when traveling around Northern Italy.
When we arrived, staff met us very friendly. They were also helpful along our stay and checked us in few hours earlier.
Properties looked really elegant and library collection etc. were amazing.
However, we expected much more from the room itself. It looked very simple (King room) and lacked for example second pair of towels, safe locker as well as some shower necessities which usually this level of places have. There also supposed to be two bottles of complementary beer in minibar but second bottle was never provided.
Also shower itself was very inconvinient and there was only one tap which goes from top. If you wanted to take shower you should have a shower cap which was not provided. Shower water was running over the edge so it was impossible to take a proper shower. We needed to call staff middle of the night to get new towels since we used them all for cleaning the floor. In addition, our room supposed to be with mountain view but to be honest there was really no special view to look at from the window.
Breakfast was great. However, we were not asked for omelette etc and only got it when found out that other couple had it.
The place is located in Como, but by walk it took us around 40 minutes. Be sure to look proper ways of moving beforehand.
In summary, this place has a huge potential. However, in this price range (around 170 euro in booking) + reviewes there are some issues that should be improved.
