A gem in the hills of Chianti

We came here with friends who have been frequent visitors here for years, and we can see why it is one of their favorite places in the world. Far from the hustle and bustle of major cities, this is a wonderful place to relax in the slower pace of Chianti. Swimming under the olive trees in the garden pool, or under a waterfall in the Pozze di Lecchi, drinking wine from the Selvolini's vineyard or from any of the world famous vineyards, eating wild boar stew and truffle pasta at Ristorante Malborghetto, sipping a Cappuccino at the local cafe... it's amazing to find that there is something for everyone in these hills. And it is easy to take day trips to Siena or Florence, or just short jaunts into nearby Radda or Gaiole for shopping and wine tasting.

Amazing small town experience in lovely Chianti hills

My family has been staying at Borgo Ricavo every few years (as often as we can get there from Canada) for nearly 15 years. The Selvolini family, who own the two apartments, are incredibly warm and kind, and have hosted us royally from the time I visited as a teenager with my parents, to my husband's and my honeymoon visit, to travels with friends, and now to our large family visits with parents in their 60s, us in our 30s, and our daughter as a baby and now little girl. The apartments are clean, well-appointed, and pretty, with stunning views of the 11th century castles nearby; the tiny downtown of Lecchi is a 5 minute walk away - the perfect place for a marvelous dinner at Malborghetto, to pick up groceries at the little store, or to have a perfect morning coffee and pastries. From Lecchi you can be in Florence in an hour; Siena in under half an hour; wine tasting in 10 minutes; eating artisanal gelato in a quarter hour. The Selvolinis have just put in a pool, and the property is on a working olive farm and vineyard, so there is fresh fruit from the trees, rabbits and chickens for little ones to see, and wine, vinegar, and olive oil to greet you on the kitchen table. If you want to feel completely immersed in Chianti culture, come here - there is nothing cookie-cutter and everything magical about this place.

Fantastic House, Fantastic Owners

Great place! The owners (the Selvorinis) are great people and make you feel very much at home. The house is surrounded by their olive trees and grapes, and they provide you with a free bottle of wine and olive oil. It comes furnished with a kitchen, so you can make your own meals as well. The furnishings and kitchen are a bit old, but everything is very clean. Lecchi is a beautiful village, and the views from the house are amazing. Highly recommended. I would stay there again without hesitation.

Eine wunderbare Zeit

Wie immer hatten wir eine wunderbare Zeit, liebevoll betreut von Mary und Roberto. Für uns sind Haus und v.a. der Garten nach wie vor der schönste und charismatischste Ort im Chianti. Einfach und klar, mit wunderschönen Olivenbäumen, den Duft von Kräutern in der Luft und einem unglaublichen Blick und Ruhe.
Einfach zum Genießen.

Esperienza nel chianti

ho trascorso una piacevolissima settimana presto questa struttura, situato nel chianti con una vista veramente incredibile.Perfetto per una famiglia.
Adatto ai bambini, giochi in giardino e barbecue a disposizione.Inoltre la proprietaria è molto disponibile e gentile.
