For the incredible view!
What can I say Matera is breathtaking and the terrace offers you this incredible view! Comfortable room, basic breakfast (bread, yogurt, muffin, fruit, juice and coffee) and above all a host on the phone to help us and make our stay pleasant (she was unable to come and welcome us because she was ill). Please note: we parked the car at the entrance to the town and took a bus which took us up. Don't be surprised: no ticket at the entrance to the parking lot, nor space number when parking. You enter, we take a photo of your plate and when you leave you enter your plate number into the machine and you pay for the time spent: a few euros for 48 hours. Matera is beautiful and consists of lots of stairs so bring only the essentials. Start your visit with the Casa Noha museum, where the history of Matera is very interesting and takes no more than an hour.

Perfection in Matera!
I don't even know where to start with this place. Matera itself is the most stunning place I have ever visited, it is seriously magical. This B&B is ran by Marco & Serena who are the loveliest couple. It is not wise to drive in the Sassi (the old town) so Marco kindly offered to collect us from the parking nearby on Via Saraget. It is 0.50 per hour and safe enough that we left our rental car there for 48 hours. Marco did advise that just next to the car park there is a section of free parking but given that it was a rental car we didn't want to risk it! It is about a 10 minute drive into the old town near to the B&B. I say 'near' as the B&B is up a fair amount of steps, which is beautiful but not overly practical. We will not be taking two large suitcases next time, put it like that. Marco was so helpful carrying the bags, and despite the language barrier was very happy to try and tell us about the local area. On arrival at the B&B it is everything you could want. We were shown to our room up some narrow steps and shown our roof terrace. As it was our anniversary a friend had arranged with Serena ahead of time to get us a gift. Marco and Serena had also left us a lovely bottle of Prosecco. This was such a lovely touch and proof that they could not do enough for us. They spoke to my friend many times thinking of, and sourcing, the perfect gift. They asked when we would like breakfast and suggested 8.30am. The room itself is well equipped, comfortable, and has a lovely bathroom, shower and lots of toiletries, robes and slippers. If the roof terrace room is available then I definitely recommend booking this as the views are stunning and you can actually see the sun rise over the ravine from laying in the bed - BLISS. Breakfast the next morning was on the terrace downstairs which we had to ourselves. The food was typical Italian with yogurt, Matera bread, pastries and fruit bowl. It was delicious. We did not see Marco or Serena for the rest of the trip however on check out we were asked to pay the 8.00 city tax in cash - which we stupidly did not have! This was not a problem as we were told not to worry about it. Serena was in contact via Whatsapp throughout the trip making sure we were okay and asking if we needed anything. She also explained how to get back to the parking on the local bus which was very easy. This was a really nice touch and again it felt like nothing was too much trouble for them. We are definitely visiting Matera again, and we will definitely be staying with Marco and Serena again! Cannot recommend highly enough.

Un angolo di paradiso
Location magnifica immersa nel cuore del sasso Caveoso. Ospitalità eccelsa da parte della signora Serena. Disponibile e discreta. Terrazzino sulla piazza centrale e camere particolarissime.

Rimanerci...di Sasso!
È un posto eccezionale per luogo...vista...accoglienza...pulizia...colazioni!Dormire nei Sassi rende l esperienza di Matera indimenticabile. Serena e le sue collaboratrici sono gentili premurose e offrono anche ottime indicazioni per le visite e i posti dove mangiare. Passare un pomeriggio sul terrazzino rilassandosi con la vista sulla Murgia e sui Sassi è impagabile. Una chicca: all'alba i colori sono meravigliosi.
