A little pocket of heaven in Napoli
Part of the reason I picked this place was the great reviews & Ilton was praised so highly. I understand why. He is a wonderful host, available to message at any time with questions about your stay and the local area. Nothing was too much trouble. You pick breakfast, the time & selection & it’s delivered to your door. The options are limited, but that suited us fine as we planned on eating well during the day (indulging in pizza’s, pastas & gelato). The coffee is like rocket fuel!
Ilton recommended some lovely places to eat. But honestly, after a day sight seeing, the restaurants & bars right outside the hotel were perfect. Of particular note was Tandem (for all the traditional Napoli dishes) & Moscati bar (for a beautiful spritz, delicious gelato & even nibbles when you order an alcoholic drink).
The hotel room was well stocked with lotions, dental items & hair wash just in case you forget anything. Plenty of towels & crisp white sheets. A hairdryer. Loads of plug sockets. A mini bar which is re-stocked every day with water & soft drinks.
A real plus was how quiet it was inside. Despite lots of people buzzing outside, we didn’t hear a peep. Unlike other hotels I considered where noise was a problem. The bed was massive & very comfortable, which extra pillows & bedding if needed. There was plenty of storage so we could unpack comfortably and there is a safe.
The location is great, only 20minutes from the airport. And Ilton arranged our return journey at a fixed price of €24. On arrival at the airport, a taxi tout tried to charge us €55, but we found another one and paid €35, still steep but we didn’t know any better.
It was easy to navigate the city & Ilton provided a map & details about how to get around. And how to keep safe. Lots of locals would remind us about pick pockets, particularly at the main train station. We didn’t pass through there but honestly, we never felt threatened or worried, even as 2 female travellers.
Right outside the hotel, you’re conveniently situated for the hop on/off city bus tour…it’s stop 2. We paid €27 for the combination tour, which is city & coastal. Despite the name, the coastal tour didn’t seem to encourage anyone off the bus so most passengers stayed on for the entire journey. The views out to sea & of Napoli were magnificent & I’d recommend this tour which takes 70minutes.
We also took a trip up to Castel Sant’Elmo which had the most wonderful panoramic views. We paid €2.50 as we entered after 4pm (usually €5). The walk from the hotel to the train station (not the main one) took about 15 minutes. It’s 3 stops on the train (we mistakenly got off at stop 2 but a lovely local explained we needed to get back on & go up one more stop). To buy a ticket the machine conveniently switches to English. It was about a 10 minute walk to the castle & it is uphill, but my 72 year old mum nailed it. There’s a museum at the top but we chose not to go inside & just enjoyed the views.
It’s amazing when you find little pockets of heaven in such a bustling city & if I ever come back to Naples (which I hope I do) I would absolutely stay here again. Perfect thank you Ilton
