Excellent experience
Farmhouse in an ancient palace of medieval origin, immersed in the greenery of beautiful Umbria. We ate here for lunch on August 15th with the whole family, including four children. Good, well-cooked food with local, zero-mile products. The appetizer offers high quality ham and cured meats, obtained from Cinta Senese pigs, raised on the neighboring farm, appetizing crostini and typical local vegetable pie. Mushroom and truffle lasagna and excellent polenta gnocchi with mountain pesto sauce satisfied all of our tastes. As a second course, a pork loin with truffle sauce and original baked potatoes, whole but cut into thin slices on a bed of crispy bacon. To finish, tarts from grandmothers of the past. The staff is helpful, courteous and rustically friendly. The owner with his friendliness and empathy is ready to satisfy every request. An experience worth repeating, even if the restaurant is not always open!

A fake à la carte menu that hides a set menu
I do not feel like giving 1 star because the interior of the place is appreciable, otherwise we are not there at all.
Practically it is a restaurant that offers an à la carte set menu; I attach the menu in the picture, in which you can see that for each course there is only one type of dish, except for the first ones that are 2,l.
They presented themselves as a widespread farm in which the piglets are happy in the wild, of course for the second they propose only a “happy roast piglet”. A friend of mine asked if they kindly had vegetables and not just roast potatoes, the owner said no because “we are carnivores”.
Wine without choice, as red had only montefalco rosso terre de Trinci.
Moving on to the dishes:
Mixed starter consisting of 3 slices of shoulder 3/4 fat and 1/4 lean, 3 slices of salami, a slice of very fine cheese, a slice of wild boar sausage cut vertically, all accompanied by 2 pieces of focaccia. A truffle scramble to be divided into 6 people (you did not get to a spoon each).
For the first tagliatelle with truffles that were clearly a truffle sauce, to my request if it was only truffle of course was answered yes and that they care a lot. As Umbrians and truffle lovers we can assure that it was a truffle sauce, with color and taste probably mixed with porcini mushrooms, and it was already evident to the eye and confirmed by the taste that it was not pure truffle. It was clear that they would insist to death that they did not.
As a second roast piglet without choice, with potato side dish without choice.
Piglet without infamy and without praise, but the important thing is that when alive he was happy.
As a sweet crescionda Spoletina, this one too without infamy and without praise but I admit that it was the type of dessert that did not fall personally into my tastes.
That said, with the lack of choice they have, they could very well propose a set menu that is economically convenient, because you understand that cooking just one dish and serving it as an à la carte menu for them has a significant revenue and for the customer a drop in wallet just as not indifferent.

Great surprise
After a long day of walking we finally arived at Pupaggi. At first is wasn't really clear to us where the hotel was, because there are no clear signs, but after some walking around we found the entrance and were surprised by the beautiful surrounding and view.
Around the castle there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the beautiful and calm view.
Personel was very friendly, but unfortunately only one gentleman could speak english.
The swimming pool is definitely a plus, and from there you can also enjoy the beautiful scenery of the mountains.
Our room had everything we needed and the restaurant was really great. We were served a menu of the day with small portions of very tasty food.
There was a good and tasty Italian breakfast (with a lot more than just cappuchino).
One thing did really bother us. When we arrived, we were lucky to find the host at the reception. But inmediately after we got our room, he was no where to be found. So at that point we were not able to order any drink at the bar or ask about the caste and area. Also we were told the breakfast would start at 8:00, but we had to wait until 8:45 until the doors of the restaurant were opened.
Never the less, it was a great experience and we would definitely recommend!

loved spending the night in our donkey trip
Castello di Pupaggi is a great place to be. We visited and spend the night in September on our donkey tour (recommendation; spend some time walking with a donkey! La Mulatteria). We were treated like kings and our donkeys had a lovely place to spend the night. Adolpho cooked us the best tagliatelle a tartuffe EVER!!! Beautiful village. Great place to take day trips (don't forget to hire some donkey's!:)

Come estraniarsi dal mondo che ci circonda.
Posto splendido come il proprietario ed il personale tutto!!! Simpatica la sistemazione con mini appartamenti che danno la possibilità, per chi vuole, di poter cucinare autonomamente. Splendido il ristorante che cucina divinamente con materie prime eccellenti e con costi contenuti. LO CONSIGLIO A CHI VUOL PASSARE QUALCHE GIORNO IN PACE IN UN BORGHETTO CHE SEMBRA ESSERE FERMO E FUORI DALLA FRENESIA DEI NOSTRI TEMPI!!!!!
