Charming old town hotel with heart and character.
The Albero Nascosto was one of the most beautiful hotels on our trip. The location in the heart of the old town of Trieste is excellent and immediately creates a special atmosphere. The narrow streets are typical of the historic old town and contribute to the charm of the neighborhood. Those arriving by car should simply know that the access is correspondingly narrow.
The reception was exceptionally warm and straightforward. Since it is a small hotel, one felt welcome from the very first moment. We were able to unload our luggage directly at the hotel, and afterwards a garage was available just a few minutes' walk away.
Our room on the third floor was spacious and very tastefully decorated. It featured a comfortable double bed, a small kitchenette with a refrigerator, and a large bathroom with a shower. We particularly liked the many loving details and the furnishings with the rather simple wooden furniture, which perfectly match the style of the house.
Despite the central location, it was surprisingly quiet. We could sleep with the window open and heard practically nothing from the city. This is by no means a given in a historic town center.
The breakfast was very pleasant. In addition to various types of bread, muesli, fruits, yogurts, and egg dishes, there was a large selection of honey and teas. The staff also prepared any desired coffee specialty fresh. We really lacked nothing at breakfast.
Those who are not good on foot should note that our room was on the third floor and there was an additional staircase to overcome. At the same time, that is exactly part of the charm of this house. Guests with limited mobility should therefore request a room on the lower floors when booking.
Overall, a true gem in the heart of Trieste. Personally managed, very clean, exceptionally warm, and with a location that could hardly be better. We would stay here again at any time.

Hip and comfortable apartment
I stayed in a one bedroom apartment associated with the hotel. It was located on the 4th floor, right across from a park that leads up to the fortress and church. The apartment was very quiet and well-equipped and had mid-century furnishings and modern art.

A charming small hotel
A charming small hotel w 10 rooms and close to the port. My room (#7) on the 3rd floor was spacious, had high vaulted ceilings, wooden floors, a kitchenette, a loft w a spare bed, AC, …everything worked & was sparkling clean. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely return.

Perfect central location in the historic area of Trieste
L’Albero Nascosto: This hotel offers a perfect, central location in the Historic Center of Trieste. Our room (Matrimoniale Superiore) was spacious, clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was always great --- don’t miss the array of dozens (yes, dozens) of various local jams and honey to go with the three kinds of delicious bread, granola, cheese and salume. The coffees were each made to order and always perfect.
The hotel itself was fantastic, but what really made this hotel exceptional was the staff. Thank you Martina, Silvia and Donatella! They were warm, friendly, and very helpful with local transportation tips and restaurant recommendations.
We loved our six nights at L’Albero Nascosto and will definitely stay there again if we return to Trieste.

Good area, stay in the hotel if you can
We stayed in Apartment Shelley because the hotel itself was full. It is a spacious apartment 5 minutes walk up the hill from the hotel, with a double bedroom, large living room, a modern bathroom and reasonably well equipped. It would have been four stars but: there are 60 steps from the ground floor to the apartment, no lift; the living room is rather gloomy with a lot of dark wood; and there was a smell of old tobacco smoke having impregnated the place, despite its impressive cleanliness.
On the plus side, it is quiet and opposite some gardens, through which you can walk/climb to the cathedral and castle. The area at the bottom of the hill, round the corner from the hotel is lively and a great place to sit and eat, drink and people watch.
