Simple budget stay in a great central location

Hotel Istria in Trieste felt like a simple budget hotel, mainly suitable for just sleeping rather than a longer, comfortable stay. The biggest advantage is its central location, so everything is easily reachable on foot and you’re quickly in the city.
The rooms are quite small and very basic, with average comfort and some occasional noise. There is no elevator, but this was communicated in advance, so it wasn’t a surprise. A plus is the 24/7 reception and a generally helpful receptionist.
Overall, it’s a perfectly fine option if you spend most of your time outside and are looking for something cheap and practical.

It is hard to get worse than this

200 Euros for one night in a hotel that seems more like a hostel than a 1-star hotel. Dirty room, no elevator, breakfast outside, rickety and noisy beds, really bad for sleeping. Terrible Wi-Fi, it kept disconnecting and was extremely slow. It is hard to get worse than this.

Night in Trieste

I understand we are talking about a one-star hotel
But finding an air conditioner that makes a lot of noise but zero cold and a plastic box with 2 sheets, 1 pillow, 1 plastic cup, and a bar of soap seems unprofessional to me
It is the first time I have had to make the bed myself

A quiet night

At the reception very nice and sympathetic, clean rooms and very convenient location for sightseeing. For the rest the description of the hotel corresponds to what the owner WRITES.Air conditioning regulated by the remote control a little noisy

Great for a short stay

I stayed one night here. The room was small but sufficient for a short stay, with space to open a suitcase and a bathroom with a shower. Though the bed could be more comfortable, it was adequate for one night. The hotel is near a busy street with many restaurants and is a 15-minute walk from the train station. Staff are friendly and helpful. It's an ideal, affordable option for a short stay.
