A perfect blend of nature, comfort, and hospitality.

At the end of September 2025, I spent a few days with my family at the Doany Beach Ecolodge in Nosy Be. The establishment blends perfectly with the surrounding nature: palm trees, lush tropical vegetation, and the sea just steps away create an authentic and relaxing atmosphere, ideal for those who wish to escape the routine and experience a genuine connection with the environment. Additionally, the presence of a few lemurs nearby adds a unique value for wildlife enthusiasts.
The bungalows, built in a traditional style, are welcoming, meticulously cared for in every detail, and equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay, without sacrificing the simple and natural charm that characterizes an eco-friendly establishment.
Another major highlight is the cuisine: the dishes, prepared with fresh and local ingredients, are always of excellent quality. Each meal becomes an enjoyable moment thanks to authentic flavors that are perfectly highlighted.
The remarkable kindness of the staff also deserves special mention. Everyone was friendly, available, and attentive to the needs of the guests, contributing to a family-like and warm atmosphere. A special thanks to Jean-Michel, the owner, who invited us to friendly games of pétanque with his wife Florida and some locals from the neighboring village, thus providing us with genuine moments of camaraderie.
The only suggestion I would like to make concerns the boat trip to Nosy Iranja, which involves a long crossing: using a more efficient vessel would make the experience more enjoyable.
In summary, the Doany Beach Ecolodge is an excellent choice for those who wish to discover Nosy Be authentically, immersed in nature, while enjoying excellent cuisine and experiencing sincere and warm hospitality. Highly recommended.

Decent stay with quite a few mishaps

Comfortable small hotel near Lokobe. Helpful owner, large rooms, good food. We had a great stay with a great trip to Lokobe organised by the hotel owner. We had a good stay but it’s alll run quite amateurish which was fine but at times not great. I would still advice the place as it’s very relaxing jus lower your expect!

Feeling at home

Beautiful ecolodge surrounded by a lush and well-kept garden. Jean Michel and Florida are great hosts who will welcome you and make you feel part of their wonderful family. Hospitality, authenticity and affection is what awaits you once you cross the threshold of Doany Beach. I can only reiterate our congratulations for the excellent work that all the staff do in this wonderful corner of the Lokobe reserve.
You will return home enriched by the laughter of the village children, the beautiful sunsets, the caring of the staff, the chef's delicacies, the sharing of experiences, sitting in front of the sea, with other travelers and Monsieur Poupard.
What makes a trip special are the places you reach and the people you meet along the way, rest assured that Doany Beach will make a great contribution.

Idyllic hideaway far from all the hustle and bustle

We were welcomed by a local dance show in this place accessible by boat or via the nearby fishing village. This idyllic landmark, far from all the hustle and bustle and tastefully restored, offered us an unforgettable stay.
Jean-Michel and Florida have thought of every detail for our greatest comfort.
The discreet staff but attentive to all our needs allowed us to truly disconnect.
Excursions on foot or by boat are possible, all you have to do is ask.
In summary, between the waves caressing the beach, the whisper of the wind in the palm trees, the singing of birds and the presence of lemurs, every moment is perfectly enchanting. I cannot recommend enough to come and relax and recharge your batteries here, while admiring the breathtaking sunsets and sunrises.

A magical place to discover an authentic nosy be!

Doany is a magical place!!! We are calm, connected to nature! Relaxation on the program, without forgetting visits to the islands by boat! The welcome is top notch, it’s a great pleasure to spend time with Jean-Michel and Florida! More than a hotel, you are in a luxury guest room, in an exceptional setting!
