Best Bar and Restaurant in Town.

Great food and service, beautiful setting, friendly owner. Best place in town to have dinner and drinks. Well stocked bar and a menu with unexpected choices. We didn’t stay here, but we had breakfast and dinner here several times. The local kids play a few songs on the beach each evening.

Very bad experience. Could not manage to stay even one night.

We could not even stay the night. The location is in the village and villagers walk through the Lodge all day long. The women wash their clothes and bath the children on the beach right in front of the Lodge, so there is no chance for any of the guests to use the very small beach. Naked children run right in front of the rooms.
The rooms were not nice at all... Very outdated and dirty. The doors could not close properly. There were ants in our beds.
The villagers pass by our rooms the whole day and make a lot of noise. At one point there was a whole group of goats by our door and we had to chase them away ourselves. It seemed to be normal.
The food did not taste very good.
When we decided to rather find a different place to stay, the owner was very upset and swore at us.
Not a pleasant experience at all.
If you want to experience typical living in a Malawian village.... Then by all means... Try it out.
But if you would like a quiet, clean place that is good value for money.... Rather skip it. It is definitely not worth the price and is rather a place someone would have to pay me to stay at.... And then I'm still not sure I would be up for it.

Hidden gem by the lake

The lodge fully lives up to the raving reviews. We are a family of three who stayed for four nights. The location is superb, right by the lake and nestled in a well kept garden with trees. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the food is tasty and very reasonably priced. Go for it!

Ok place

The place is ok but in need of AC, the staff is very friendly though. Foodwise it is ok but could be better with some more spices added.
The pool did not look too inviting and is in need of better cleaning.
It is no problem to stay here for a night or two if you can manage without AC.

They cancel your stay there last-minute.

Be careful when booking , cancel a five days or one night in advance when booking privately.
We received a cancellation 5 days in advance and a family had already checked in and could only stay there 1 of the 2 nights. Another couple had also had to do with this cancellation?
-Why? A group trip went for .
