Great

Nice neighborhood. Very pleasant helpful staff. Clean. Comfortable. I was promised a twin bed but really it was a double if not a queen. There was a bottom sheet, but as is the custom in Malawi, no top sheet. I was glad I had some traditional cloth with me to use as my own top sheet. Decent size room. En suite bathroom with hot shower. Mosquito net on four posts around the bed -- one mosquito did make it inside during the night. Flat screen TV with Al Jazeera among other channels. Dim light in the bedroom but nice and bright in the bathroom. Breakfast was delivered to my room -- first day it included sausage and, as a vegetarian, I learned I needed to express my preferences the night before. Next day I got egg, toast with margarine (or butter?) already on it, potato wedges and tea bags with hot full-cream milk in which to make it. The reception is just to the left as you enter the property gate -- it's the empty-looking room with a desk and chairs in it. The B&B was not very busy and I had to look around a bit to find someone working there. Across the road was the Lark cafe (that closed at 4:30 p.m./16:30) and around the corner was the hotel / restaurant Latitude 13. Both had excellent food I could take-out, but the least expensive meal was 10,000 kwacha. So you may want to bring food or eat before you arrive if you're on a budget. Bring drinking water if you don't want to drink tap water. There are no stores within walking distance. A lovely place. I'd stay again.
