Recommended

Staff very gentle and available. Clean, welcoming, comfortable. You can enjoy the medina by walk and the tasty food on the rooftop. The owner is a good guy which can help you in any of your requests. For couples or friends. You can park your car in lots of parking spaces around 10 minutes walking for only 40 dh/day (March 2025). Highly recommend.

NOTHING GUARANTEES YOU HAVE CONFIRMED

Mal, the character who manages it, rents our room despite having it booked. We had a reservation one day, the second day we did not, we were on a trip and some luggage was left and the third day back I had rented our room that we had already booked and he had confirmed. The explanation... that it was normal and that I was sorry. Absolute lack of respect and commitment.
So if you book, you have no guarantee of having accommodation even if it is confirmed.
You may not have a problem if you don’t come across more pasta and everything goes well, but...
MIND!

Riad Diwan, a disappointment

We first got a vague story that Mother was dying and we couldn't stay. Alternative was staying in his sister's riad, she could pick us up in half an hour. Suddenly there was a room with 2 beds available, without plumbing, but there were 3 of us. Then the host disappeared for more than half an hour. He had taken a shower and in the meantime his sister had come by but could not get in, was the story.
He didn't know how quickly to cancel the booking on booking.com.
Overall a very unfriendly and disappointing reception.
The riad of his sister was beautiful, but the room was, admittedly clean, but below par. The people there were at least friendly and the breakfast was good.

Dire accommodation in every way.

The Riad Diwan: a place where the best option is not to choose it. A group of six people spent three nights there, booking four rooms through Booking.com, making sure that three of them had a “private bathroom, inside the room” and one with a bathroom outside the room, since We made the reservation for the latter later and they did not have a bathroom (they only have six rooms). Arriving at Riad Diwan is a quite unforgettable experience. At the end of one of the “main” streets of the Medina, you enter through an absolutely narrow alley, in which a suitcase cannot fit on its side, which ends in a small door, which gives access to the Riad. Be careful when arriving, since Google Maps does not work in the Medina. We were greeted by a boy who, despite saying he was a “polyglot,” did not understand or speak Spanish, English, or French (we still do not know what languages he mastered as a “polyglot”). A long negotiation with this boy, who told us that there was only one room with a bathroom... Finally a person in charge came? with whom we were able to speak and who showed us two other rooms that had a “bathroom”. Our bathroom was as rustic as it could be, with a very musty smell and a bathtub that was accessed by “climbing” a wall, with a shower that had no place to hold it. Very special mention to access to the rooms: the six of us in the group, among other sports, practiced mountaineering and various climbing, but getting to the rooms was exhausting, with very uncomfortable, narrow and very high stairs. As luggage we only carried a small backpack each, but I don't even want to think what would have happened to us if we had brought a large suitcase... I have returned to Spain with a big headache. I'll be an idiot for not learning, but I've hit my head a good dozen times on the top of the doors and on the stairs themselves, since I couldn't fit (and I'm only 173 cm tall). Every time I got up at night to go to the bathroom, in the dark, I hit my head hard. Cleanliness…?, what is that…? Of course no one has entered the room in the three days, they have not made our bed, nor changed the towels, nor cleaned, nor anything at all, which given what we have seen, we are almost grateful. Once they gave us the rooms, they always try to sell you excursions and get the money from you. We already had a booked excursion from Spain and they kept harassing us to cancel it and take it with some “friends” of theirs. Breakfast is at a very late hour for us, theoretically from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. In practice, being ready at 9 a.m., we couldn't start having breakfast on the first day until 9:40 a.m. We must admit that on the second day, when we were going on an excursion, they agreed and gave us breakfast at 7 a.m. Thank you so much. But yesterday, departure day, very, very early due to the flight and despite having requested it, they did not leave us anything prepared the day before for breakfast. The “polyglot”, through a translation App, offered the day before to print our boarding passes, at “his cousin's house or there…” (Ryanair in Morocco does not accept the boarding pass on the mobile phone , be careful, you have to take it printed to the airport) and he charged us for printing six boarding passes in black and white the “modest amount” of €15, €2.50 for each one. It's a magnificent business. Conclusion: you sleep in the middle of the Medina, which is good and a very cheap place for a European, but personally I think it is a better option to pay a little more and choose another place. We were aware that we were not going to a typical hotel, but the truth is that the place delivers in every way. There is middle ground between a five-star hotel and this miserable place.
