A very comfortable and pleasant stay during winter season
Riads in the old quarter (Medina) have been a hit or a miss; if you were to believe many of the reviews found on the 'net. Yet, no experience is complete without staying inside the Medina. After a good amount of research , Riad Bab Tilila was chosen. This was the best decision I have made. Used booking.com to reserve two nights.
The Delta flight from ATL arrives early morning. It was dark at 6:15 AM, so there was no rush to reach the Riad because check-in was for much later.
Our taxi brought us to the lane leading to the Riad by 7:00 AM. Instead of asking us to wait, Mustafa, the resident assistant, seated us in a cozy alcove shaped seating area and served us hot tea and local cookies.
What makes a Riad Or Boutique hotel great, is not the luxuries, and modern amenities, but individual attention to the guest. The owner, Marieme, fits that role perfectly.
I received a message from her on my messaging app when I was airborne heading to Marrakesh, welcoming me, along with the offer to arrange for a taxi pickup. She also arranged an English speaking guide for a four hour walking tour; Offered a delicious three course dinner; Resolved my WiFi issues, and very flexible with mode of payment for residual and incidental charges.
Mustafa was also very helpful in carrying my luggage to the room and brought it down when we checked out. He also arranged for a car with driver to drive us to our next destination at a very reasonable rate.
No stress or anxiety throughout our stay in Riad Bab Tilila and Medina.* Thanks to Marieme. Did I also mention, she let us into our room by 9:30-10:00 AM instead of 13:00 hrsas advertised.
PROS: The top floor room in the Riad was cozy, and quiet. The bathroom adequate and hot water was just right. The breakfast included in the room rate was better than a couple of large chains I've stayed at in the past. The breakfast is served in the courtyard, at the time of your choosing.
CONS: At this time of the year, the floor in the Riad was freezing cold ( not the fault of the owner; it's the architecture of the buildings in the Medina.) Since the Riad Is small, there was no phone in the room. ( You can message Marieme directly). The room safe needs an upgrade. The layout of alleys in the Medina, make it impossible for a taxi to drive up to the doorway of the Riad.
OVERALL: I would definitely stay here again, even though I have mid-level status at two international hotel chains, who have presence in the city.

Riad very well located
An excellent week spent in this riad, good advice for visiting Marrakech, the entire team attentive, very hearty breakfast, and delicious Moroccan dishes on order, very caring hosts, thanks to Marieme and her husband, and well done Rita for all these exceptional dishes.

Mustafa top
This riad is very nice. Great value for money. Our room was in a building near the main one, on the top floor with a nice terrace. Good location close to strategic points. Mustafa is an exceptional guy, always kind and helpful. It is the soul of the riad, it is its presence that gives that extra bonus. His kindness on arrival, availability for any information, courtesy for breakfast. Great Mustafa!

We stayed here a group of nine people and we were delighted with everything: reception, treatment, cleaning, rooms, breakfast....
