Superb address in Tangier
Hotel full of charm, in the heart of Tangier, an oasis of greenery. Wonderful breakfast, to take outside, and absolutely divine massages

Not worth the price tag
This hotel has so much potential which is sadly unrealized. Inside the gated door you find beautiful maze-like garden and a main indoor area which is breezy and calm, well decorated in bohemian French Moroccan style. It should be a tranquil oasis from the hectic heart of Tangiers, especially for the hefty price tag to stay, however, it falls down on many fronts.
The staff greeted us in perfunctory way, with minimal information - here is your room and breakfast hours. They neglected to tell us that there is a pool (and there is only one partial pic of it on their website, so not obvious when looking up the hotel) or show us around to various other sitting areas and terraces on the property which sadly we didn’t discover until it was almost time to leave. The room was pretty but actually not practical in any way. There is no A/C or even a fan and when we asked about a fan the staff told us we would be cold at night and in fact we might want an extra blanket. Given that it was 21C overnight it was quite warm in our room and stuffy. We had large solid wood french doors that opened right into the breakfast sitting area with no screens and only a sheer curtain. When we tried to open them before bed to get a breeze and cool down we had mosquitos and moths immediately so we had to close them, making it stuffy and uncomfortable. In the morning again we couldn’t open them for air or light as the other guests were dining right outside our door. Air conditioning or at least a ceiling fan, some window screens and a functional curtain would be simple things to improve the guest comfort considerably. Don’t expect a lot of staff attention, explore the grounds carefully on your arrival and i would not stay here in hot weather as it would be unbearably hot. You can also hear the street noise and anyone chatting in the garden in the evenings. We stayed at much more hospitable riads throughout Morocco for far less money and far more service and comfort.

Beautiful, discreet location to stay and explore Tangier from.
I spent 3 nights in Mimi Calpe while exploring Tangier. The location is perfect; you are on the edge of the old town so its easy access into the medina with all the hussle & bussle that brings. The new city is alongside with the train station and airport offering connections within the country and other countries.
The hotel is discreetly situated behind a lovely door from the road. Up lots of steps into a garden full of colour and green shade then into the main house where reception and dining room are located. I had dinner here on my first night (you must book a table) which was delicious and gave me the opportunity to meet other guests. Rooms are all dispersed within the property. Mine was up a couple of flights of external stairs. The room was very comfortable and I had a lovely big shower ensuite. Everything was clean and sparkly. The staff are super friendly and always around to help. Id happily return.

Charming little hotel
Arriving at the Mimi Calpe off the busy Rue de La Plage is entering a magic world of lush greenery and old fashioned charm. It was a peaceful haven to return to after a day in the city.
The bedrooms are spacious and filled with antique furniture,but if you like modern , international style hotels this would not be for you.
The garden is absolutely beautiful, there are plentiful seating areas, and a fabulous pool with sunbeds and adjacent seating areas.
Best of all was the staff, who are so friendly and helpful, we can recommend dinner in the hotel, delicious food and very personal service.
Already looking forward to a second visit some time in the future I hope, I don’t think there could be a more special place in all of Tangier!

Tanger
The Mimi Calpe is conveniently located on the edge of the Medina and close to the ferry port. The atmosphere is that of a tropical garden outside and a 1920s era decor on the inside. The staff are attentive and our breakfast each morning was excellent. We felt completely at home during our four night stay.
