Extensive feedback.
Dear management team of Banyan Tree Veya:
First of all, I want to thank you for the attentions received during our stay. I write this feedback with great respect and with the hope that it reaches the hotel management team. My intention is not to file a complaint, but to share observations that I believe represent an important opportunity to strengthen the guest experience and maintain the international prestige that distinguishes Banyan Tree.
The Valle de Guadalupe has established itself as one of the main luxury destinations in Mexico. Those of us who visit it seek tranquility, excellent cuisine, and exceptional service. Precisely for this reason, I was surprised to find a series of small details that, together, convey the feeling of an operation that requires greater discipline, follow-up, and attention to detail.
Our experience began from the moment we arrived. The access guard indicated where the parking lot was located but failed to mention that it was on the other side of the street. This caused us to waste time trying to enter through different accesses while we were against the clock to make it to a dinner reservation.
Once parked, the shuttle cart never arrived. We had to request support from the security staff again to send another one. Subsequently, the check-in was performed by the same staff member who was driving the cart. He was always very kind, but the process turned out to be slow and inefficient due to several back and forths, just when we were in a hurry.
Upon arriving at the room, we found dry leaves in the private pool and cobwebs on the outdoor furniture. I must acknowledge that these issues were addressed immediately, for which I am grateful.
However, there were several requests later that simply did not materialize.
I requested an additional key and a tube of toothpaste via WhatsApp. Both were confirmed, but they never arrived.
I also reported a leak in the shower, where a significant stream of water was coming out sideways. I even indicated the time we would be out to facilitate the entry of maintenance staff, but the repair was never carried out during our entire stay.
Inside the room, we also found some maintenance and oversight details that, although minor individually, end up influencing the overall perception: two spiders, odors coming from the bathroom drain, a body cream dispenser that was practically unusable, a soap dispenser with a loose lid, the operating labels of the curtains completely worn out and illegible, and a box of disposable tissues that was never replenished.
Another unfortunate moment occurred when we requested a transfer to the parking lot to leave for a dinner reservation located approximately 25 minutes from the hotel. I explained that we had little time. After waiting about ten minutes without the cart arriving, I decided to run to the parking lot to bring the car while my wife walked behind me. The transfer never showed up. Fortunately, we arrived within the restaurant's grace period, but only because we resolved the situation on our own.
The gym was in good condition and well-equipped, although the speaker was off and had accumulated dust. The yoga class was excellent and very professional, and the couples massage deserves special recognition for the quality of the service received.
In the hydrotherapy area, we found the steam room out of service and the showers with partially clogged drains, again reflecting a need for preventive maintenance.
I also consider it important to mention that, due to our oversight, we left an iron plugged in during the day. When we returned at night, after the cleaning service had been through the room, the iron was still plugged in. While the initial error was ours, a basic safety review by the staff could prevent such situations.
In the outdoor areas, I also observed opportunities for improvement. There were several completely dry plants along the paths. I fully understand that water is a limited resource in the Valle de Guadalupe and that landscaping aims for a more desert-like appearance; however, removing the dry vegetation would significantly improve the resort's image.
Likewise, the dirt roads generate a significant amount of dust when the carts pass by. On one occasion, a staff member sped by, kicking up dust without slowing down or offering a greeting. Shortly after, another staff member did exactly the opposite: he slowed down, greeted me warmly, and demonstrated the level of hospitality one expects from a luxury brand. That contrast made me perceive significant differences in the level of training and service awareness among some team members.
It might also be worth evaluating alternatives to reduce dust on the roads, such as compacted gravel or other similar treatments, as this detail directly influences guest comfort.
Even during check-out, the same pattern of lack of follow-up repeated itself. I requested my account statement to later generate the invoice, and at the front desk, I was informed that it would be sent via WhatsApp in a few minutes. After approximately five hours without receiving it, I had to write again to remind them. Only then was it sent to me.
It may seem like a minor detail, but I believe it again reflects a lack of follow-up on the commitments made to the guest. In a hotel of this category, one should be able to relax and trust that requests will be attended to and completed without needing to give reminders.
I would like to highlight that, overall, the food was good to very good, and several staff members were genuinely kind, attentive, and truly willing to help.
Precisely for this reason, it is frustrating to write this feedback.
Upon reflecting on our entire stay, I concluded that the main problem was not the existence of isolated failures, but the lack of follow-up. On several occasions, the team responded kindly and stated that they would attend to a request, but it simply did not materialize. That difference between the intention to help and the effective execution represents, in my opinion, the main area of opportunity for the hotel.
What caught my attention the most is that practically none of the previous points require large investments to be resolved. Most are relatively simple details that could be corrected through greater supervision, preventive maintenance, training, and a lasting culture of attention to detail.
I never had the impression of encountering a team unwilling to serve. On the contrary, I left with the feeling that the hotel possesses enormous potential that could be much better utilized by strengthening operational discipline and consistency in service.
The property is beautiful, the architecture is extraordinary, and the project has everything to become one of the great references of luxury hospitality in the Valle de Guadalupe. It would be a real shame if small operational details prevented the experience from being on par with the prestige of Banyan Tree.
In luxury hospitality, the difference is rarely made by architecture; it is made by the consistency and care of the hundreds of small details that the guest experiences throughout their stay.
I sincerely appreciate the time dedicated to reading these observations. I share them with the utmost respect and with the genuine desire that they contribute, even modestly, to helping Banyan Tree Veya reach the level of excellence that its brand, location, and extraordinary potential deserve to offer.
Sincerely,
Daniel Bon

Constructive Observations to Strengthen the Guest Experience
Dear Banyan Tree Veya Management,
First of all, I would like to thank your team for the hospitality we received during our stay. I am writing this message with genuine respect for the Banyan Tree brand and with the sincere hope that these comments reach the hotel’s management team. My intention is not simply to complain, but to provide constructive feedback that I believe represents an opportunity to further strengthen the guest experience and uphold the outstanding reputation that Banyan Tree has built worldwide.
Valle de Guadalupe has become one of Mexico’s premier luxury destinations. Guests travel there seeking tranquility, exceptional gastronomy, and an unforgettable hospitality experience. For that reason, I was surprised to encounter a number of relatively small operational details that, collectively, created the impression that the property would benefit from stronger operational discipline, follow-through, and greater attention to detail.
Our experience began upon arrival. The security guard directed us to the parking area but failed to mention that it was located across the street. As a result, we lost valuable time attempting to enter through several gates while we were already running late for a dinner reservation.
Once we parked, the golf cart transportation never arrived. We ultimately had to contact security again before another cart was sent.
Check-in was handled by the same associate driving the golf cart. He was genuinely warm, welcoming, and courteous throughout the process, but the check-in itself was considerably slower than expected due to several trips back and forth at a moment when time was critical for us.
Upon entering our villa, we noticed leaves floating in the private pool as well as cobwebs on the outdoor furniture. To your team’s credit, both issues were addressed promptly once reported.
Unfortunately, several subsequent requests were acknowledged but never completed.
Through WhatsApp, I requested an additional room key and toothpaste. Both requests were confirmed, yet neither was ever delivered.
I also reported a shower fixture leak where a strong stream of water sprayed sideways from the shower head. I even informed the team of the hours we would be away so maintenance could access the villa, but the repair was never completed during our stay.
Inside the villa, we also noticed several maintenance and housekeeping details that, while individually minor, collectively affected the overall impression: two spiders, noticeable sewer odors in the bathroom, a body lotion dispenser that barely functioned, a soap dispenser with a loose cap, worn and unreadable curtain control instructions, and a tissue box that was never replenished.
Another unfortunate situation occurred when we requested transportation back to the parking area before leaving for a dinner reservation located approximately 25 minutes away. I explained that we were short on time. After waiting roughly ten minutes without transportation arriving, I decided to run to the parking lot to retrieve our vehicle while my wife walked behind me. The golf cart never arrived. Fortunately, we reached the restaurant within their grace period, but only because we resolved the situation ourselves.
The fitness center was well equipped and generally in good condition, although the speaker was turned off and covered with dust. On a much more positive note, the yoga session was excellent and highly professional, and our couples massage was truly outstanding.
During our visit to the hydrotherapy facilities, we found the steam room out of service and the shower drains partially clogged, once again suggesting opportunities for stronger preventive maintenance.
I would also like to mention one safety-related observation. My wife accidentally left the iron plugged in after using it earlier that day. When we returned in the evening, after housekeeping had already serviced the room, the iron was still plugged in. Although forgetting to unplug it was certainly our mistake, a basic housekeeping safety inspection should ideally include disconnecting unattended appliances.
Throughout the outdoor areas, I also noticed several dead plants along the pathways leading to the villas. I fully understand that water is a limited resource in Valle de Guadalupe and that the landscaping intentionally embraces a desert aesthetic. Nevertheless, removing dead vegetation would noticeably improve the property’s overall appearance.
Likewise, the unpaved roads generate significant amounts of dust whenever golf carts circulate throughout the resort. On one occasion, an employee drove past me at considerable speed, creating a large cloud of dust without slowing down or offering a greeting. Shortly afterward, another employee approached, slowed down, greeted me warmly, and demonstrated exactly the level of hospitality one expects from a luxury property. That contrast suggested inconsistencies in service awareness and guest engagement among some members of the team.
It may also be worthwhile to explore solutions such as compacted gravel or other surface treatments to reduce dust along the internal roads, as this seemingly minor detail directly affects guest comfort and the overall perception of the resort.
Even during check-out, the same pattern of limited follow-through appeared again. After settling my bill, I requested my account statement so I could later generate my invoice. I was informed that it would be sent to me via WhatsApp shortly. Approximately five hours passed without receiving it, and I eventually had to send another message as a reminder. Only then was the document delivered.
Although this may seem like a minor detail, it again reflected a lack of follow-through. At a luxury resort, guests should be able to relax with complete confidence that every commitment made by the hotel will be fulfilled without requiring reminders or follow-up from the guest.
I would also like to recognize that the food throughout our stay ranged from good to very good, and many members of your staff were genuinely kind, attentive, and eager to help.
That is precisely why writing this feedback is disappointing.
After reflecting on our stay, I realized that the primary issue was not the existence of isolated service failures, but rather the lack of consistent execution and follow-through. On several occasions, team members responded politely and assured us that a request would be taken care of, yet it simply never happened. In my opinion, closing the gap between good intentions and consistent execution represents the property’s greatest opportunity.
What struck me most is that virtually none of the issues described above require significant financial investment to resolve. Most could be addressed through stronger supervision, preventive maintenance, continuous training, and an unwavering culture of attention to detail.
At no point did I feel that your team lacked goodwill or hospitality. On the contrary, I left believing that this beautiful property has extraordinary potential that could be fully realized through greater operational consistency and service discipline.
The resort itself is stunning. The architecture is exceptional, the location is extraordinary, and the project has every ingredient needed to become one of Valle de Guadalupe’s benchmark luxury destinations. It would be unfortunate if relatively small operational details prevented the overall experience from reflecting the prestige of the Banyan Tree name.
In luxury hospitality, excellence is rarely defined by architecture alone. It is defined by consistency and by the countless small details that guests experience throughout their stay.
Thank you sincerely for taking the time to read these observations. They are shared with the utmost respect and with the genuine hope that they may contribute, in some small way, to helping Banyan Tree Veya deliver the level of excellence that its brand, location, and extraordinary potential truly deserve.
Sincerely,
Daniel Bon

Awesome time in Valle!
First off the design of the room was fantastic. It surpassed any expectations. Very big and felt like an upscale Spanish style studio apartment.
The staff was fantastic, and welcoming and was very attentive to any needs we may have had.
Angel was the gentlemen who helped us get around the propery and helped us with anything we needed as well as provided great food recommendations. We were very grateful to have him. Five stars to him.
Overall this place was beauty. From the garden , the pools, the design of the rooms, the day bed to sit in while watching the stars at night, we couldn’t have asked for better.
This place was the best bang for your buck!
