Comfortable stay
This is a nice family run hotel or more like a guest house. It is super clean and the beds etc are very comfortable. The Barrio it is in is absolutely lovely, picturesque and quiet. Easy walk to all Centro but can be at least 20min to some places. My only suggestions are to supply some drinking glasses in the rooms. They have a filtered water maker downstairs but it takes forever to fill up the bottles. There is a store right outside where you can buy cold water and lots of options for breakfast very near as well as a few restaurants but most are in Centro

Budget hotel, safe and conveniently located
The front desk is very helpful and friendly - though only only duty during the day - you use a key to access the building after 8pm. The rooms are basic but the air conditioning was good, and the wifi was good. Don't expect anything luxurious - the towels and sheets and walls have all seen better days, however the beds are comfortable.
The location is very convenient, lots of bars and restaurants around, though this also means that you might want to pack your earplugs for the nights. Though really it wasn't too bad - the street noise generally doesn't go on very late.
If you are on a budget and don't require luxury, this is a safe and fine choice.

Excellent
This hotel is located a little bit outside the historic centre in a nice neighbourhood. The distance to the centre is easy to walk and it feels safe, even in the evening. There are enough restarants and small shops around.
The hotel is very clean, has a nice terras and the people are very frindly.
Good breakfast, continental or Meixcan is included. It’s in a restaurant one block from the hotel, so the hotel stays quiet in the morning.

Great cost for location and comfort
My husband and I loved Hotel Cazomalli. Our room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is filled with plant life and lovely Mexican decorations. We did not use the upstairs patio at all but it is a lovely view. We really enjoyed the neighborhood. It is quiet at night! We got to know the coffee shop just around the corner which serves great coffee and breakfast. The walk to the zocalo takes 15 minutes. Yvon, the daughter who runs the hotel, is really nice. My only complaint was the weak shower which can be remedied with a new shower head. But that's minor. We had lots of hot water and clean towels every day. In truth, They were very attentive. Thank you Yvon and Elizabet!

A 2019 update on Cazomalli
We noticed that the only reviews are quite old and not very complimentary and thought we better update. This is a great little hotel in a quiet and beautiful neighbourhood but only 20 minutes walk from the Zocalo. The hosts, Francisco and Marina, are very friendly and helpful and immediately make you so welcome that you feel part of the family. Ignore the comments about keys, this has all been corrected. There is no food here, but you are surrounded by authentic eateries of all types in this district, including several brilliant breakfast options. Exceptionally clean, well presented, with its main attraction being the welcome you receive. Great base if you really want to find the real Oaxaca.
