Meliora is a nice budget hotel and one of my go-to places to stay in Playa del Carmen. Low season prices were great value for money for a solo traveller. The location is perfect for pretty much anything, including getting to both bus stations. Rooms are comfortable and have everything you need. It's nice to have a rooftop pool. The only thing I don't like here is the shower: water never gets fully hot. It wasn't a big deal when staying for just one night, but on longer stays (or more expensive time of the year) it might be an issue.

Horrible. They don't stay here.

The room had a broken toilet, and instead of relocating us, the staff gave us two choices: go down two floors to use the reception bathroom or leave the hotel. That's with the hotel almost empty. No manager available. A hotel that treats its guests like this, even more on a honeymoon, does not deserve a star.

Very unfriendly staff. Light wasn’t working in the elevator on in the bathrooms at the roof top. The room was very nice and clean, and the location is very perfect.

AVOID THIS PLACE

Worst Qualification - Avoid This Place
This is an incredibly rundown hotel. The sheer lack of maintenance is obvious the moment you look at the entrance steps, the weeds growing out of the stone pathways, and the water damage/peeling finishes shown in the pictures
To make matters worse, the front desk and management staff are more than rude, the only exception is the hardworking maids who actually do their jobs. Don't be fooled by the pictures of the rooftop area either; it looks nice online, but in reality, it's just a cheap, basic pool. That is what it is. Total disappointment.

Stay away! The staff will steal your things!

In mid-November, the housekeeper stole a drone from our room, carrying it out under a towel. This was captured on CCTV camera.
Since checking out, contact with the hotel has been terrible (no attempt to resolve the problem, no response to emails, and hanging up during phone calls). The housekeeper took the drone out of a backpack and then put an empty box in its place. It's a tragedy/disgrace.
Attached are stop-motion frames from the official security video where the sun shines in such a way that you can see what is being carried under the towel (on enlargement, you can even see the drone's wings).
