Large, comfortable and well-equipped room.

Unprofessional, Aggressive Staff – A Winery to Avoid

Avoid this place if you don’t want to be treated with hostility. A nightmare experience.
On May 17, we visited Chateau Vartely, guided by online information indicating the presence of an ATM on site – which we needed at the time. The gate was open, but there were no staff members in sight, and absolutely no signs or clear directions for visitors. We slowly drove in just to get our bearings – no parking signs, no entry indications, nothing.
Shortly after, as we were already turning around to leave, a guard suddenly ran toward our car and started yelling uncontrollably. He didn’t speak, didn’t ask questions, didn’t request an explanation – he screamed accusations at us, saying we were rude, uneducated, and had no business being there. Despite our calm attempts to explain that we simply followed map directions and found no signage, he continued shouting aggressively.
This wasn’t a simple communication issue – it was a complete lack of respect for visitors.
Chateau Vartely might look like a nice winery on the outside, but what happens beyond the gate is far from welcoming. Emotionally unstable staff, zero organization, no signage – everything reflects a chaotic and deeply unprofessional environment.
I strongly do not recommend this place. Avoid it if you value a civilized experience.

Best wine tasting tour in Moldova

The tour of the winery and the tasting were the best we encountered in Moldova and we visited 7 different wineries, including the most well known. Our guide Silvia was very professional.
We did not book accommodation at Vartely on this occasion but the villas look great, we will definitely be back another year in September or October when there are grape harvest events going on.

Great weekend!

We had a great experience spending the weekend at this hotel, the rooms are nice and the breakfast very tasty! The view from the window is beautiful all seasons. Totally recommend it and I am definitely coming back!

Dodgy place

We decided to visit for the weekend for a short getaway. Our "wonderful" trip started with not being able to get to the place. The road to the resort was being repaired and there was no detour marked anywhere, so we called to find out how to get there. At first no one answered the phone, I tried a bunch of alternative numbers and eventually someone grumpy answered telling us "how should I know how to get to us". That was a first sign there was something dodgy about this so-called resort. We ended up driving through the corn field to get there, thanks goodness for our old 4x4. They had a sauna but it was closed so not much to do on the territory. In the evening during our dinner they said that the kitchen was experiencing technical difficulties and the restaurant would be closed the next day so we would not get hot breakfast that was nicely described in their booklet and which we really looked forward to. There was something weird about it since we got dinner alright amid all the "technical difficulties" so I suspected they did not want to make breakfast for just 3 couples that were staying there overnight. In the morning we went looking for the breakfast since no one came to our room and spotted the admin walking around with plastic bags. We got some old sandwich, a cucumber, a green plum and a teabag. They made zero effort to organize an edible breakfast. I asked around and apparently they do that all the time to save money and locals are just ok with that.
