Nice Budgeted Hotel

I made booking through booking.com. The rate is around $150 for 3 days. Actually the rate is for foreigners. When we checked in there, the receptionist asked any foreigners included or not. I said no foreigners. I am a local. Then they explained that the rate showed in booking.com is for foreigners not for locals. Rate for local people will be cheaper. So they suggested me that please cancel the booking from booking.com and they will charge me by local rate. So that I can save around $30. If they do not suggest, I will not know the information about the rate and I might charged by foreigners rate. Thanks a lot the hotel manager and all the friendly associates.

Knowledgeable staff

The staff are very friendly. The male nightshift staff speak good English and can give you a lot if local knowledge. The rooms are simple and ok. The breakfast might be the weaker point of the hotel. Good view from breakfast room.

Clean and quiet

We spent four nights here and found this an excellent choice where we got full value for the money spent. The staff was most friendly and helped us organize our sightseeing around town and outskirts. Most of all it is clean.

clean and friendly

On arrival we were told that only a superior room was available for $44. The room on the ground floor near reception had a superior view of the wall next door. Didn't get any sleep here because of noise from an air con unit vibrating outside the window against a loose piece of corrugated iron. It was clean, you are simply paying for extra space.
A standard room was available to us the next night at$38 on the 5th floor (lift available). This was significantly better and we slept for the first time in Myanmar.
The staff here were great especially the ladies on reception during daytime and were honest about some of the tours on offer. They prebooked our next hotel visit for us too.

Average hotel for stay in Mandalay

I've stayed in this hotel for one night. It's an average hotel with average price.
Pro:
1. Room is spacious.
2. Staff is helpful. They showed me some local convenience shop which was really convenient. Also the hotel staff helped arrange a private day tour which reasonable price.
Con:
1. The facilities are out-dated.
2. Breakfast is a little bit simple.
