Business Trip
I can only say good things about this place. ALL staff are attentive and friendly. Thank you for making our stay so lovely.
A special note goes to the cleaning Meme, she asked me:”How did you like OUR hotel”? I said it was fantastic to stay with you and I shall be back.
She clearly identifies with her workplace and has found a personal purpose linked to the company goals.
Well done to the Management.

Comfortable bed but very noisy bar that turned into a club.
The room was comfortable with clean linen and aircon.
While showering a huge cockroach ran up the shower door which was not pleasant.
The restaurant/bar turned into a loud party that only stopped at 1am then a whole lot of cars left whose bright lights shine through the glass door with no curtains into the room. So only after all this could I manage to get some sleep.
Not great on a business trip.
Ask for a room in the reception building if you want to get some sleep.
Didn't try out the breakfast as we had to leave early the next day.

Definitely the best in Ongwadive
Came here by chance and fortunate I did so. I stayed for eight nights after having to leave a previous hotel due to non-functioning Internet. The Hotel Destiny has two categories of rooms, one being in a very new block, where everything is to European standards. My bedroom was large and stylishly furnished. It was extremely comfortable and gave the impression of being hardly ever used - nothing scuffed or broken. The in-room shower room was immaculate and there was a separate toilet. The A/C worked beautifully and quietly - very necessary when daily temperatures reach 40 degrees.
The room was thoroughly cleaned every day and the room maid also took the laundry and returned it the same evening.
Staff at this hotel were exceptionally friendly and helpful, particularly the ladies in the restaurant and the gents at the bar. Special mention for Imms and his manager who went out of their way to look after me. The bar had some lovely offerings on the wine list including top flight South African varieties that were hardly more expensive than buying them in a wine shop outside - The Rust en Vrede at around £28 was an absolute bargain and they looked after it for me as I could not drink it all at once. Just one thing, only ice made with tap water, which for Europeans is probably not advisable and so was not able to have a cocktail, which I would have liked.
Lovely breakfast service with not a huge variety but more than adequate and delicious omelettes made to order. Good food generally with an excellent line in grilled steaks and game meat on offer.
When it came time to leave it was with some sadness as I felt I’d made some good friends whilst there.

Management is Invisible
ALTHOUGH the staff, went out of their way to ensure that the stay was pleasant and enjoyable, during a entire week's as a guest at Hotel Destiny in Namibia's northern town of Ongwediva, not once did the manager deem it appropriate to come and introduce himself or even just to pass-by waving a friendly greeting.
A pleasant stay and the well-appointed room at Hotel Destiny in Ongwediva was properly serviced on each day of my six-night stay.
However, the mini-fridge should be placed on a small table rather than on the floor. One literally has to go down on your hands-and-knees to make use of it. A rather impracticable arrangement.
As for catering, the breakfast was a nothing special, but adequate, and the ever helpful, friendly, smiling and polite front-line staff made-up for any deficiency on the cuisine front.
To their further credit, the dining room staff thankfully immediately turned-off the loud TV when asked to do so. Although most of us will enjoy a good game of football, not so at 07h00 on the morning of a working day, and over breakfast. Best to watch a match with friends on a weekend or in the evening, with the added enjoyment of a cold beer.
The purpose of the visit was to stage a five day training event. Adequate for the type of event, but to attract events and conferences the facility can do with an upgrade. This could start by getting rid of all those table cloths with holes!
Same applies to the catering for the attendees and presenters. Like the breakfast, lunch was okay, but it won't win the Destiny Hotel any catering awards.
An average rating for a rather average Hotel Destiny in Ongwediva. However, with the manager working on upping visibility and by tackling concerns articulated in this review, the establishment could quickly up its ranking.

if you liked Hotel Destiny, you will love the new extension
The new upgraded and upscale extension is a monumental structure with first rate features and fixtures. Brand new solar system, conference rooms and all the amenities you'd expect to find in a hotel in the city. Checkif it's already open, because when I staied there they were finishing up the last touches.
