The staff were super helpful when we arrived to check in close to mid night. We wanted to book on a tour at the last min and the team tried to arrange it for us as best as they can, and the recommended tour was well organised with excellent service as recommended.
Breakfast choice suits all of us with best view from the pier.
Not to mention, sunrise from the harbour view room was spectacular! Sunset from the linked first floor deck outside was great.

Worst Auckland hotel stay

Nice location, only good thing about this tired hotel.
Room was a big let down, dirty threadbare carpet. Outside area uneven trip hazard, cracked tiles. Peep of the sea across the cigarette butt strewn patio of the next room.
Not private patio as booked, inside no chair or sofa to sit on.
Breakfast was either cold or burnt.
Fish restaurant was definitely not five star dining, that when staff remembered we were there, staff stressed

Nice Hotel

Nice hotel. Located at the end of Princes Warf and central to the downtown Auckland. Since hotel is on the Warf large cruise ships port next to hotel. We had a very nice room on top floor with massive balcony. This provided nice views of city and harbor. Hotel was under some renovations so pool was not available. Fish restaurant was nice for breakfast we didn’t have dinner at the restaurant. Bellini the lobby bar was nice and also offered food. We had dinner here two nights and food was ok. They did make a nice espresso martini! Staff were nice and professional. Overall nice hotel

Room is very dated and the power point on only one side of bed.Bed was bouncy a sign it is cheap. Balcony was shared and view restricted.
No water on arrival just tap or pay.
Breakfast was ok however a strange selection and lids you had to fully remove and nowhere to put them down.Expensive and you had to pay extra for barista coffee.
Overall experience was that of a 3-4 star hotel. Price of a 5 star hotel. It is no 5 star hotel.

Great Location, Underwhelming Execution

Location: (5/5)
Right on the waterfront, next to the ferry terminal and Princes Wharf. Location is hard to beat – shopping, dining, bars, and ferry access to Waiheke Island and Devonport are all right there. If you're here to explore Auckland, you couldn't ask for a better base.
Room: (3/5)
The room is generously sized, and the bathroom features proper wet/dry separation. The balcony offers a nice city-skyline view, and the night-time outlook is pleasant.
However:
- Shower pressure is disappointingly weak – not ideal for a morning wake-up.
- The balcony seat cushions were completely waterlogged due to recent rain. No one had replaced them, and I found out the hard way – my trousers got soaked sitting down.
- The bed is comfortable enough, but curtains don't block light properly. The harbour-view rooms face east, meaning early morning sunlight floods in – not great if you're a light sleeper. Noise from ferries and boats starts early. If you're hoping for a sleep-in, this isn't the place.
- The tea box claims "Dilmah Exceptional", but inside it's just basic Dilmah English Breakfast – a small but telling detail.
Breakfast: (2.5/5)
Disappointing, especially for New Zealand. The hotel only serves green kiwi fruit, not the gold variety that New Zealand is famous for – and they were sour and underripe. And then there's the conveyor toaster – it lacked a guard or tray at the exit. If you weren't quick enough, your toast would fly straight off the belt and land on the floor.
Meanwhile, as a Diamond member, I'm aware the benefit only covers continental breakfast. But this is the only Hilton I've ever stayed at where staff explicitly told me I was restricted to the cold section only – no hot items allowed.
Service: (3/5)
Check-in was slow. Arrived at 3 PM as a Diamond member, and the room still wasn't ready. Bottled water had to be requested by phone – it wasn't offered or placed in the room proactively. Staff were polite enough, but nothing stood out.
Overall: 3/5
Hilton Auckland has a prime location and spacious rooms, but the execution falls short across the board – weak shower pressure, waterlogged balcony cushions, light-leaking curtains, ferry noise, a misleading tea selection, a sour breakfast experience, and sluggish service. For a Hilton property in a flagship New Zealand city, this simply isn't good enough.
