To be closer to the rail trail highlights, you'd need to be camping.

An older-style motel/hostel with a great shared guest kitchen-dining-lounge area, and about as close to the bulk of the Rail Trail action as you can get. Our room was quiet, clean, very comfortable and very reasonably priced. Our host, Anita, was a fountain of joyous welcome and great cycleway knowledge. Off-road parking and good outdoor facilities were available. Highly recommended.

Great Breakaway.

We as a family used Riverside Accomodation for a 70th birthday breakaway.
Service was great and the Accomodation was completely to our satisfaction.
The management was also very professional and very friendly.
Personally met up with Eugene (Owner) who was very friendly.
We used the spa's and the BBQ'S which were great.
Also did some of the walks, and went through the tunnel.
Were also advised that one can fish for trout in the area.
Bicycle's are also available should you wish to go cycling.
They are in the process of building a large deck, which is going to house the spa's and BBQ where one can sit around a fire.
Really a place to go to relax.
Price is very cheap for what you get.
Would highly recommend for a stay, and hopefully will be returning in the future.
Well worth it.

Location, facilities and first class service

This place was excellent. Stayed two nights. The room was comfortable with TV and AC. Showers and toilets separate and close by. Kitchen and shared areas were lovely. Hot tubs on the premises. The owner was most helpful and advised of the Crown Mines trails starting just across the road... even lent a head torch to see better in the workings. Also advised of what best to do in a day in the Coromandel.

Great Accommodation in a Great Location for Activities in the Gorge

We had a great stay at Riverside Accommodation. The beds were comfortable, and the room was spacious and clean with everything we needed. The first night, we got Chinese takeaways from Paeroa. The second night, we used the BBQ outside and cooked hamburgers and ate on the deck.
We used the spa pool. It was lovely sitting in the misty rain looking at the mountains. We had our own kitchen facilities, but the main shared kitchen and lounge areas I could see worked well for guests.
We have done the rail tunnel loop many times before - it is great. This time, we did the Windows Walk and then walked further along the Crown Track to the waterhole. Lots of people were swimming.
We continued on through the long tunnel to the Dickey Flat campsite, where we stopped, had a snack, and headed back.
I would recommend the walks. I think it took us about 3.5 hours return at a reasonable pace. It was a little wet, so we did not stop for long. You definitely need a torch for the long tunnel past the waterhole before Dickeys Flat. It would be helpful to have a torch for the Windows Walk tunnel - but not necessarily crucial. You could use your cellphone app. The glow worms are cool, so do pause and turn your lights off and look up!
Anita, from Riverside Accomodation, is very knowledgeable about the area.
We would certainly stay at Riverside again.

Amazing stay loved everything about it

The owners (Anita & Eugene) were away so they left Jenny there mum in charge and she was a incredible and amazing host me and my boyfriend were blown away on Jenny customer service. Thank you so much for a amazing stay will definitely recommend riverside to our family and friends we will be back . Thank you once again Jenny keep up your good work .
