Ideal choice for those with limited mobility

My son and I stayed in one of the accessible units for five weeks while he recovered from hip replacement surgery. The unit provided us with a home away from home, with two bedrooms, accessible bathroom, laundry facilities, a generously sized lounge and dining area , and up-to-date kitchen appliances. A deck and a sensory garden gave us a lovely place to relax. Staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. The unit was in an ideal location, close to town and also close to the beach. It was warm, clean, quiet, and safe. This was our second visit in similar circumstances and we would highly recommend the facilities and service.

Too close to the airport!

Booked to stay here as I needed to find somewhere for three nights in Nelson and as it was the school holidays prices had gone up. I wanted to stay for three nights as for one of the days I planned to drive into the Abel Tasman park and this is conveniently located about 5 kms from the centre of Nelson.
I booked a self-contained studio which had a queen bed, a single bed and a pull out sofa with an en-suite. However I was travelling solo so did not need all the beds! The Studio was quite spacious, and my unit was at the front of the park looking out over the sandy tidal intlet. There was a microwave, kettle, hob, electric frying pan and toaster. There was also a slightly larger fridge freezer than I had been used to on my New Zealand travels. As I was here for three nights and there were more facilities I did do some proper cooking rather than the usual baked potatoes or beans on toast, so it was useful to have. They have more basic studios so book the one you need!
The bed was comfortable however there is a design flaw with the power outlets. There are two single electric blankets on the double bed and a lamp. You may also need power to charge phones etc overnight. However there are only two power outlets and no adapters to give you more sockets. Not ideal, I ended up heating one of the electric blankets to max before I got into bed then swapping the socket over to use the lamp overnight. So you can either have a night light overnight or a nice warm bed. Not both!
The shower room was small but very clean and the water power was quite good.
It was a very large site including camper vans and a motel, but there were several blocks with shared laundry facilities and recycling collection dotted around. There was also a kids’ playground, mini golf, go karts, and café / shop on site. Given the size of the site it was more peaceful than I expected when I had first driven up adn the reception staff were pleasant and helpful.
What the online description did not mention is that it is directly under the flight path for the airport and the planes are very low when they go over so that is a little noisy. The last flight over is just before 10pm and the first one out is before 7 am so I had to use my earplugs!

We also appreciate your constructive feedback about the bedside power outlets. It highlighted something we'd overlooked, and we've already added temporary solutions while we arrange for additional double power points to be installed during our winter maintenance programme. We understand that aircraft noise doesn't suit everyone. As we're located just a few minutes from Nelson Airport, we do note this on our Accessibility page (in terms of people who may particularly noise sensitive), but your comments have prompted us to review whether we should make this information more prominent for future guests.

The two bedroom apartment is so spacious and clean. The one we stayed in had a newly renovated bathroom which was lovely. It is the best location, so close to the beach and I love staying here. The room was nicer than many hotels I’ve stayed at, such good value for money.

Great place to stay in the 2 bedroom motel units. Clean and comfortable beds. Bathroom needs updating, but was not a problem. Serviced daily. Easy parking. Great playground for kids to keep them occupied

GREAT CAMPGROUND & ACCOMODATION

First time staying here and we’ll be back. We had a pet friendly Classic Studio which was very spacious with our own grassed area for our dog. The campground facilities were amazing and spotlessly clean, unlimited shower time wow. Would highly recommend this campground to others.
