Lovely, spotlessly clean accommodations in a well-restored Victorian building with a friendly and attentive host

We enjoyed staying at The Old Confectionery in the ground floor two bedroom flat. Katrina was a very kind host who communicated well. She left a box of crackers and a small wheel of Brie for us which was so nice given that we hadn’t gotten dinner because of our evening viewing of the little blue penguins. It was so nice that one of the two bedrooms had a handicapped accessible bathroom because I have an upcoming knee surgery and am still recovering from a previous knee surgery. Having those extra hand rails is so helpful to make sure there isn’t an inadvertent misstep. Parking for our unit was right in front on the cobblestones, which made transferring our bags inside very easy. The property is in a very good location in the heart of the Victorian district and our only regret is that we didn’t book two nights instead of just one.

A very special place

Wow! This was a wonderful characterful place to stay. We chose the ground floor apartment because we had two very heavy suitcases! The renovation of the shop was so well done and whilst it has a modern kitchen and bathrooms, the character and architectural elements have been respected and retained. It would sleep four very comfortably. We were only two and chose the rear smaller bedroom because there was a little road noise at the front. Although we didn't use the kitchen, it had everything you would need to prepare breakfast or dinner. Both bathrooms were modern and spotlessly clean. Maybe a shelf for toiletries etc. would have been useful. There are plenty of eating places within walking distance. Parking directly outside the entrance. We really enjoyed our short stay and our memories of Oamaru will stay with us forever.

Family friendly accommodation

The most amazing and beautiful accommodation! We stayed as a family of 5 in the downstairs 2 bed 2 bath apartment and it was absolutely gorgeous. Quiet street but super close to food and attraction in the old Victorian district. Beds were super comfy and having laundry amenities was a godsend. We will definitely be back and plan on spending more time in Oamaru next time and to just sit and enjoy this beautiful space!

Excellent Location, Great Apartnent

We rented the lower apartment. 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. Full kitchen. Clean and comfortable. Rooms reflect the Victorian style of the town and building, but restored and modernized. Location is 1 block from the main street. Lots of choices for food and shopping and in the heart of the Vistorian architecture section. Check in was arranged by message before and all went smoothly. Great stay!

Central and spacious

Very nice and spacious unit. Loved tge history of the building. Central situated.
Bed sheets felt fresh and clean but duvet on top was quite heavy.
Kitchen was well equipped.
Nice furnished with period furniture.
Bathrooms were spacious too.
