Excellent For Money
Recently stayed 1 week in Hostel Rakieta, and it was wonderful wonderful value for the money. It cost £ 95 for 7 nights.
The room was quite large, with 2 large beds, a lovely bathroom, with great shower, very large wardrobe's, a kettle, television and a fridge. The communication from the hostel was great, from the minute I booked. They even emailed me the codes, to get into the room, which was very helpful.
The hostel only consisted of bedrooms, and a large communal area, which had a large chair, and cooking facilities, as well as large tv. Personally I would have liked someone there to ask questions etc where needed, as its a bus and train ride into Gdansk City Centre ( although it only takes 10 mins or so to get there). A 10 minute walk in the other direction, and your at Ronald Reagan park, one of the largest in Poland. If you wander through the park, you eventually arrive on the Sea Front, which has a large array of bars, shops, and restaurants, and all exceptionally cheap.
All in all, I would go back here again, as it was exceptional value for money, quiet, and relatively close to all the amenities.

PAIN IN THE A$$!
Oh... when you book this hostel through booking.com, you’ll have to choose:
1. easy booking AND payment
OR
2. Cheap place to stay
Here is THE story about my struggle.
I’m checking the web for a mid-price stay in Gdansk. I find one that looks OK: cheap, clean and not so far from the sea. I have to add my card when I book so they can draw the money. So I do!
A day after the booking, I received an email from the hostel, that they didn’t receive any payment because my card was rejected. I double-check my card and just to be sure carefully enter another card of mine.
Day after I receive an email saying that my card was rejected.
Whaaat?! I double-check my card once again and enter another third card! Kind of cool, right. I don’t know what to think… Anyway, the day after I receive an email that… guess what? Yeah! MY CARD WAS REJECTED!
And check-in day is in two days.
Ok, in the email they’ve sent to me, they wanted me to make a bank transfer and pay MORE than booking.com said it should cost. It’s about 52€ more… come on!
Then I started to call the hostel first. They said that they can’t do anything… payment isn’t received and they will cancel my booking IF I’m not making a bank transfer and send them a confirmation in form of a pdf or screenshot from my bank. Check-in day is now TOMORROW! I also asked why they wanted 52€ more than booking.com… HERE COMES THE SURPRISE! They have their own currency exchange rate!
The second call was to my bank. Because I had to open an international transfer. At the same time, I asked why my card was declined. They said: Well, we had a request from a hotel in Poland but it was 0€! Yes, you read correctly! ZERO! I successfully paid this higher SUM to the Polish hostel and made a screenshot of the payment. Sent this screenshot to the hostel.
Then I contacted booking.com and they contacted the hostel… I was waiting online and in a couple of minutes, I got a response. The hostel said that they do NOT accept cards and I HAVE TO MAKE A BANK TRANSFER! Yeah! I’ve already done it!
Then I called the hostel again asking them to check my email with confirmation… it took a loooong time for them to find my email… When they did find it, they said that this screenshot isn’t good enough… So, they have to actually see the money in their bank account! WTF! Or, some another, REAL confirmation directly from my bank… Well, I call my bank again and get that confirmation on the payment from them.
Calling the hostel… asking them to check out my email… it takes aaaages for them to find it! Come on, it was sent 2 minutes ago! Ok… it wasn’t enough for them! They will forward my email to another team who will decide if it is OK.
In the evening of the same day, a day before check-in, the money wasn’t drawn… Now I’m REALLY NERVOUS! But, I got some air into my lungs… patience! I gave it I try until tomorrow morning.
Chek-in date! The first thing I do when I wake up is to check if my money was drawn. YES! It was! But, I didn’t get ANY f*ckin confirmation from the Hostel. So, I started to call them… few minutes of waiting and… What? I got something in my email box! IT WAS CONFIRMATION FROM THE HOSTEL!
Summary: RAKIETA is fooling the booking.com AND customers with the following:
1. THE PRICE!
2. PAYMENT METHOD
NO! I wouldn’t recommend Rakieta just because of this pain in the a$$ with payment AND the wrong price.
P.S. Asking the hostel through email or online chat is mission impossible. They will reply a few days later! I asked them if there is any AC a few days before check-in… got a reply on the check-in date. No, they do NOT have any AC.
I Will take my complaint to booking.com and of course, a follow-up with comfort the hostel claimed they have!

Nice clean place, good value for money
This is a really good place for short stay with all necessary facilities. The room was spacious, modernly furbished and with a fridge, which is handy if you're planning an economical stay or if you just want to keep things chilled. Beds are comfortable, duvets long enough to satisfy the tall people. There is a kettle in the room, some tea and sugar also provided. The bathroom is big, equipped with a big shower cabin and a hear dryer. Spotlessly clean. I really appreciate the bath mat as this is not a standard in hostels. There is also a social room with TV and sofas, few tables and a small kitchen with microwave, electric stove and dishes/chopping boards and cutlery so simple meals can be prepared on site.
The building is located in a sport facility area, within walking distance (circa 20 minutes) to Brzeźno pier and the beach.

Super hostel
Super hostel w atrakcyjnej cenie. Bardzo czysto- wysoki standard. W pokoju lodówka, czajnik, TV, kubki herbatka i kawka. Do dyspozycji gości kuchnia i salon ogotępny. Blisko do parku jak i nad morze. w pobliżu biedronka i inne sklepy, pizzeria krokodyl, poczta. Do przystanku autobusowego 5 minut linie 127, 158, 124, 188. Do tramwaju około 10 minut linia numer 2, 4, 8.
Hostel bezobsługowy. Odebranie kluczy za pomocą kodu, która wbiija się w sejf przy wejciu do hostelu. Po wyjeździe klucze wrzuca się do skrzynki.

Świetny hostel
Świetny hostel na krótkie wypady do trójmiasta. Czysto i schludnie. Tv, lodówka, czajnik na wyposażeniu, dodatkowo starter w postaci kawy, herbaty. W łazience wszystko co potrzebne. Nic dodać nic ująć. Polecam!
