Quite centrally located and a good standard.

The small B&B is situated a bit elevated in Horta, from our room in the attic (Room 7) we had a good view of the bay from the terrace. The room was clean and well-furnished. One must know that there is no elevator; not everyone will be able to carry their luggage up several flights of stairs.
Breakfast is taken together with the other guests at a long table, which quickly leads to conversation. It is somewhat unfortunate that the hosts/landlords are not on-site, making it feel a bit anonymous. Logistically, this did not pose any problem.

Super place – loved the room and the view.

This place exceeded our expectations – we really enjoyed our stay here and would’ve loved to have stayed longer. The location is great, right in the old town, just a short 5-10min walk to the waterfront and all the shops and restaurants. Parking is free and easy, just out in the street or in nearby parking areas – always plenty of free spaces. Our room was amazing! We opted for the room with sea view and had a balcony with the most amazing views over the town and Pico volcano across the straits. We spent a lot of time out there enjoying the view and the sunshine. Our room was large, bright, clean, and airy with plenty of windows and storage space. It felt very luxurious. There was a TV there which was quite small, non-smart, and with limited programming, so we just used our laptop for viewing programs, as the internet was plenty fast. It would’ve been really nice to have a small fridge in the room, though there was a communal one downstairs in the dining area where guests can store their food/drinks. There is a bit of street noise (cars driving by) so if you’re a light sleeper you can make use of the provided earplugs. Other than that – all fantastic! The breakfast was decent, though we didn’t really like the cramped, close-quarter, community style bench seating. We would’ve preferred our own table. Overall we had an amazing stay and would definitely recommend it to other travellers.

Noise and emergency number unreachable

Huge noise pollution from past raging traffic was apparently to be expected given the earplugs that were ready upon our arrival. And yes, hear a lot of noise throughout the day, evening and night through the cobblestone road surface.
The first night we came home at 6 o'clock and had no electricity in the room. Called the emergency number 30 times, left voicemail twice, sent 3 texts and a text message. Unfortunately no rectification. Next day, the owner blamed the Portuguese telephone company. Strange, very strange!!
During breakfast the hostess was just washing dishes. A hostess who would speak French and English: unfortunately only Portuguese.
Unfortunately, the toilet paper was not replenished either.
Overall a very bad experience.

Suite in half

Access to the "suite" reserved by me at the Whale House - structure connected to the Manta Ray Lodge - sees an extremely vertical and narrow staircase. In the 3 days of stay there was no cleaning or linen change. No response to my requests for clean towels. I recommend that you read all the details to avoid unpleasant situations.

Great rooms with excellent breakfast

Very nice lodge with great rooms and a very friendly host. We spent 3 fantastic days in Horta and were very happy. Especially the breakfast was super delicious. From room 7 we had a stunnig view over Horta and Pico Monuntain. We would definitely recommend this place!
