Lovely traditional hotel in a beautiful building, well-located on a pretty square in the centre of Moura

This hotel occupies a very beautiful building, perfectly located in the centre of the charming provincial town of Moura, and is beautiful both outside with its tiled facade and inside with many original features and furnishings. It must have been a wonderful home in its previous life. We had a large, very comfortable room with wonderful high shuttered windows onto a side street (bathroom relatively small and not that well planned, but did the job). Reception are super-friendly and helpful. One star lost for absolutely rubbish wifi and a no-more-than adequate breakfast, albeit a lovely dining room. Definitely worth a stay and would go back (but please improve the wifi!). Don't miss the olive oil centre next door in the same square

This was our second stay at Hotel de Moura. It is a throwback to a more elegant era. The floors, ceilings and walls exhibit craftmanship that would be difficult to reproduce today.
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It has convenient parking and is an easy 6 minute walk from the historic center and castle.
The only downside is the lack of an elevator. The receptionist offered to carry our bags to our room. We are seniors and carried our bags up as we were travelling light.
We will definitely stay there again.

This wonderful older building became a hotel in 1900, which might have been the occasion of the last renovation. Today, faded glory is probably the best description.
I stayed in Room 1, a room that should not be used for guest accommodation. It looks onto a square but, perhaps for preservation reasons, there is no attempt a sound mitigation at all. Similarly, all the noise from the lobby, bar area arrives unfiltered into Room 1, which on a Friday night continued into the wee, small hours.

Acceptable Hotel

For the first time in Moura, we chose this hotel to spend a night.
On the outside you can see that it is a beautiful century-old building and the interior features a decoration that looks like a palace.
The check-in went normally and the staff that served us was quite friendly and correct, and indicated us the main sights of Moura.
Our room wasn't big, nor was there a fridge. It was at the level of the entrance counter and there were two more floors, however no elevator, which to carry luggage was a hassle.
After we went to the room we got to know the rest of the building and we noticed that they could install an elevator in the courtyard in the back, there is room for it. We also came up with the idea that younger customers will be placed on the upper floors, because they can withstand this situation more easily than climbing stairs with luggage.
I found the breakfast good and varied, despite not having mixed eggs and bacon in slices, had enough and was restored quite often by the lady who was of Service, in the room with a beautiful white ceiling, very worked.
The Wi-Fi always worked well.
There is free parking in the back, in the open air, on ground, and right after the pool that is small. To get there we have to walk a few meters in a space that reminded me of the camping parks.
The Welcoming offers towels with a deposit of 10€.
The 2nd floor gives access to a terrace with an interesting view of the surroundings.
The night we spent there, there was a group of guests who were talking in a little loud voice on the back terrace, in the courtyard, they should be smokers, and it was already midnight when we called the Welcoming to send someone there to ask them to shut up. I think the hotel should be alert to this kind of situation, without being the customers attracting the attention of the noise.
Overall I found a hotel that is worth the beauty and the sympathy of the staff, however it is a three-star a bit expensive for the amenities it offers, the fact of not having an elevator penalizes it a lot.
We stayed one night in room 09.

Ficamos satisfeitos por saber que ficou agradado com o nosso edifício, simpatia do staff e pequeno-almoço. Lamentamos não dispor de um elevador, mas o edifício é considerado património de interesse público, o que restringe qualquer tipo de modificação nas suas estruturas. Mesmo sendo colocado um elevador na zona do pátio, nunca teria acesso ao 2º piso devido à estrutura do edifício. No entanto, agradecemos todas as suas críticas construtivas, a opinião dos nossos hóspedes é muito importante, pois permite a avaliação da qualidade do nosso serviço, bem como a tomada de medidas no sentido de melhoria contínua. Disappointed

We didn't have the best experience, the room wasn't well cleaned when we arrived and while we stayed (for example dirty glasses weren't taken from one day to another after the room was cleaned). Pillows and mattresses didn't allow us to rest properly and due to bad isolation, light (seen through the door) and noise from the hotel gets in the room.
