Attention to detail lacking
The hotel is very big and on a golf course which meant lots of golfing residents.
First impressions where that it was old worldly, LOTS of dark wood which meant the lighting wasn’t always great, either in corridors, bar/restaurant or our room.
We stayed in room 320 which was very big and spacious. You enter the room into a type of hallway which is very dark, the wardrobe is to the left and the rail in the wardrobe was at eye level which meant my dress was resting on the ground. There were two glass panelled doors (very 1980’s) which just looked totally wrong for the room. The bathroom seemed to have been recently refurbished but the style didn’t match the rest of the room. The bath was enormous with an overhead shower. The shower door didn’t close and so the bathroom was flooded after every shower. You also couldn’t take the stopper out of the bath. We also received a dirty towel one day and the tiles were stained where something had clearly splashed over them. The paintwork was also dreadful, filthy and peeling off. We asked for robes and slippers but were told our “room type didn’t come with them”.
Our bedroom had a beautiful view out over the golf course, the bed was superking size, very springy and not comfy for us personally, there was a couch, armchair, vanity table with mirror and some drawers. There was tea/coffee making facilities with complimentary biscuits and bottled water. There were also chargeable snacks. The only lighting in the room was bed side lamps, a floor lamp and a table lamp. This made the room feel dark, especially with all the dark wood. The plug sockets beside the bed were single sockets and you had to unplug the lamps to charge phones, not ideal.
Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice, hot and cold food options. The restaurant was very busy for breakfast with lots of golfers.
My overall impression of our room is that the attention to detail was lacking and that the hotel in general needs better lighting and a big refurb to bring it up to date.

Nice stay nice venue
Rooms was lovely, food and drinks were good, only criticism is the gardener was blowing leaves around the front of the hotel, under our room at 6.20am……….which was a little ……..let’s leave it there.
Apart from that lovely stay and would definitely return.
Full of folders too so guessing it is a good course.
