Reasonable Accommodation for 1 night

was staying just for one night. The chain hotels were expensive but didn't realise until I got to Brighton a famous DJ was performing on the beach
booked this hotel and was a reasonable price. Good location by the seafront. it was hot weather. My room was in the basement, not much of a view but the room was nice and cool. Room was clean, reasonably furnished with tea/coffee making facilities.
Ensuite was very nice and looked like it had recently been refurbished. Good shower and lighting. I was happy with my room.
Some of the communal areas were a little tired and were in need of redecoration. I think they may be going through a phase of refurbishment. Was happy with my room/bathroom. No breakfast provided but plenty of places nearby
one negative on leaving several people sat on steps outside smoking not sure if guess or staff, not a good impression

Room generally good.. Kan was the host who check us in .. Should allow checkout until 12.00 pm at least and provide complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby area when checking in. should provide a ironing board too although given a iron for clothes

Great location, lovely staff, surprise leg day

This hotel is in a fantastic location — so close to the i360 you could practically wave at it from the window. If you haven’t been up it yet, put it on your list immediately. It’s also perfectly placed for the Lanes, because no trip to Brighton is complete without getting pleasantly lost while saying, “Ooh, look at this shop.”
The staff were warm, welcoming, and helpful throughout — the kind of people who make you feel like you’ve made an excellent life decision by booking there.
The only slight downside is there isn’t a lift, so if stairs aren’t your best friend, it’s definitely worth letting them know in advance. Your calves, however, will leave stronger than ever.

Disappointing Experience – Booking Cancelled While Driving There Because Of My Name!

I had a confirmed booking at Queensbury Hotel which was cancelled around 20 minutes later while I was already driving there in the evening.
I had not requested the cancellation.
When I called back, I was told by the host that he was “not comfortable” with my name, which he believed was a nickname, and he suggested there may be fraud, despite the fact that this is my legal name as shown on my passport and driving licence. I explained this during the call and also sent a copy of my passport immediately afterwards as proof.
The booking had already been cancelled before I was given any real opportunity to explain or verify my identity, and my follow-up call to try to resolve the issue was not answered.
The cancellation email also implied that I had chosen to cancel or had changed my mind, which was not true.
This left me having to find alternative accommodation at short notice while already travelling, causing significant stress and distress.
I stay in hotels regularly, including independent hotels that request ID, and I have never before had a booking cancelled because of my legal name.
My name is not a normal name but ironically, if someone were to book a hotel with a fake name for fraudulent reasons, they would use a normal-looking name rather than an unusual one to avoid drawing attention to themselves. So it does not logically make sense to suspect someone of fraud for having an unusual name.
I later sent a formal complaint and Letter Before Claim, which gave the opportunity to resolve this privately, but they were ignored.
Very disappointing and concerning experience.

Great location and value for money

The Queensbury is a lovely hotel, perfectly located close to the seafront and centre of Brighton. Our room was clean and warm, with a comfortable bed and great view. The hotel is a bit tired, but fantastic value for money - we loved it.
