Excellent food and stay

We had an excellent overnight stay here on our way to Cornwall. The room was spacious and the staff friendly and helpful. We had dinner and breakfast there, and they were obviously prepared by a chef who cared about the taste and presentation. A great find.

A great find - great pub with a great atmosphere - Richard the owner was delightful and the staff members too - room was super cosy and comfortable and the shower in room 1 is huge !!! Would visit again without question - thankyou

Great Find Near A30

Didn’t stay at the inn but sopped for lunch whilst driving down to Penzance. Easy and convenient to get to. Great service and best Fried Chicken sandwich I ever had which is.saying a lot given that I’m Southern (American). Highly recommend. It was drizzling so we didn’t sit in the garden but it looked lovely.

A good find with good food

We made a lunch stop here during a visit to Dartmoor. The location is handy. It’s a traditional inn-style place in a nice village but you don’t need to go far off the A30 route to get to it.
The owner served us, and was polite and helpful. It was cosy with a central wood burner. Dog-friendly too. I noticed several posters advertising events there. Clearly they make an effort with the community/locals, so they’re doing all the right things
We had light bites from the lunch menu, which had plenty of options. A couple of beers too, again with decent and interesting options to choose from. Everything was delicious, and very fairly priced, we thought.
This is how I like a pub. A traditional feel with a bit of history. and with owners intent on keeping it going into the next era.
If I’m passing again, this is where I’ll stop

New owners

After several years of poor management/landlords and the pub having been closed throughout the summer, we finally return to normality, local couple have taken it on with experience! Hurrah….
Good ale, good atmosphere and the food is lovely.
For those of you who have been used to a good experience at the thatch but have been disappointed over the past few years…..the Old Thatch Inn is back!
