Great pub with rooms for a Cotswold Stay

Great pub with rooms in a lovely village. The staff were amazing, really professional and friendly. The food was just right with a good range of drinks on offer.
There are plenty of good walks around the village and it's very near to many local tourist spots without being too busy itself.

Perfect

Two couples, two rooms, dinner and breakfast. The beautifully situated building is charming and characterful, furnished and equipped with immaculate taste.
Excellent food and drink, all sourced and delivered with obvious commitment to quality.
Breakfast was perhaps the highlight - top ingredients prepared to order in a professional kitchen - no lazy buffet here!
Service is a delight, properly attentive and friendly without being stifling.
This establishment reflects well on its management’s standards, taste and dedication - I would unhesitatingly stay here again.

A bit cheesed off by rubbish service frankly. Stay somewhere else.

We stayed last year with friends. Our friends didn't like it so went elsewhere this year. We went back. Actually the food is fine. Slightly boring but fine. It's more the way it's run. So, Cheltenham week is busy. Fully booked so staff it accordingly. Seemingly not. Now we are old and fussy (or is that wise?). So down early for breakfast. No delay. But 10 minutes later and, as others, we would have been waiting for an hour. And, apparently a new divan base in our (shall we say bijou as code for open door and jump on bed) double room. Seemingly no one checked it and metal staple sticking out. So blood injury to leg. Asked to fill in accident book. And......................... Silence. No apology. No refund. Nada. I don't actually need a refund (in top 2% as previous post). But some recognition of humble apology for injuring a guest by their negligence might be nice. We have booked with our friends for next year. And by the way twee Cotswold pub = zero sound proofing and thus every step of the fellow guest above walking about at 06.00 am.

Disappointing Sunday lunch

We went as a family for Sunday lunch after viewing the menu online. We all chose roast beef and it was very underwhelming. While the beef was tasty it was incredibly fatty and there was much hacking around the fat to eat the beef. The beef came with 5 or 6 small chopped up new potatoes and a very few green beans. There was also a whole soggy pepper. No cauliflower cheese (as mentioned on the online menu that we referenced before booking) or Yorkshire pudding (a staple with roast beef in England surely). The waitress informed us that the menu has been updated (but not online) . We all left hungry and disappointed. The service charge left a bitter taste almost as much as the peppers.
We don’t eat out very often ao it’s a real treat when we do. This experience felt like a waste of money
