Good afternoon tea but not blown away

I recently had afternoon tea with friends. The venue was nice and the regular afternoon tea was good and as expected. The scones were a particular favourite. It was a little disappointing that the gluten free afternoon tea was cakes which had been purchased from the supermarket, although the scones seemed to be homemade. Gluten free sandwiches were nice and above all I wasn't ill afterwards and that's the most important thing.

Taster menu, not enough staff!!

I recently attended here with family for a wedding. Wedding was outside, failed to play any music for the happy couple or for the hymn to be sang. Ran out of Guinness, early afternoon. On to dinner. Wouldn’t have fed a sparrow. A third of a slice of brioche bread with a sliver of pâté is not a starter. Main course, 2 tiny pieces beef..the plates were finished by the time the waitress had finished serving the table. Half a portion of desert. I’ve eaten fine dining, where the food is rich and filling…this was not. The bar wasn’t staffed when food was being served. 1 person behind it certainly wasn’t enough. I wouldn’t be recommending as a wedding venue. A lot of work to be done to get it up to scratch.

Still a lovely building but very much in need of some TLC!

The hotel is at the end of a tree lined driveway, a peaceful spot overlooking the Tay.
I had booked directly with the hotel, our room was confirmed free to cancel until 48 hours prior to arrival date, however the full payment for the stay was debited from my CC 30 days prior to this! I tried to contact the hotel on numerous occasions to query this, nobody answered or returned my calls nor did they respond to my email messages, Customer service was non existent.
The hotel is looking tired and neglected. Our room alone had a few light bulbs out, the bathroom door on both sides was dirty, the fan did not work and there was an area of black mould on the ceiling. Although the bedding was clean, the pillows were inferior quality and the curtains were barely hanging on/off the rail, certainly attention to detail was lacking.
We enjoyed a good breakfast and the few staff we encountered were friendly and pleasant,
The management should address these negative issues, carry out a deep clean, make the small repairs, and ensure that staff reply to customers enquiries. This would lead to a much more appealing guest experience, in keeping with the current 4 Star rating,

Zero Customer Service - No Refund!

Never got to stay because they charged my credit card repeatedly after I booked, only replied after one instance, never answered my calls, and never refunded my original "fully refundable" booking after I cancelled. Beware!

Bizarrely terrible

For such a good location the experience was very poor. Dinning area not up to standard and seats were terrible, with no padding. Was not offered a drink other than water. Then the food turned up and it was terrible. I had fish, well I never had it as it was so bad. Fish was black inside and tasteless. Will never return unfortunately……
