Our room was surprisingly spacious, the breakfast was great, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Everything about our stay was easy and comfortable. We absolutely loved it and would happily stay here again. Highly recommend!

Complaint About Check-in and Additional Charges
We asked whether we could pay the following morning or by bank transfer, but the receptionist refused both options and told us that we had to pay immediately or we would not receive the key. He made no real attempt to find a solution or offer an alternative.
As a result, we had to withdraw the money in cash from several ATMs. Due to the withdrawal limits, this resulted in approximately €360 in additional fees. We therefore effectively paid around €360 more for our hotel stay because we were given no reasonable alternative payment option.
What is particularly frustrating is that, when we checked out, the receptionist we spoke to said that we could have paid through Booking.com while we were at the hotel. This directly contradicted what her colleague had told us during check-in, namely that payment through Booking.com would only have been possible in advance and that we had to pay immediately.
Unfortunately, the way our complaint was handled at check-out was also very disappointing. When we explained that we were unhappy with the check-in experience, the receptionist showed very little interest and acted as though she did not remember what had happened, despite having been present at the time. When I said that we would mention our experience in our review, she simply smiled and said, “Please do.”
The room itself was fine and the breakfast staff were very friendly. However, the way this situation was handled has left us extremely disappointed. After this experience, I would not book with Motel One again and would not recommend the hotel to others.

We are sorry to hear that you were frustrated by the payment process on arrival. We understand that having several cards declined late in the evening was inconvenient, and we regret that you felt our team did not provide sufficient assistance in resolving the situation.
We would, however, like to clarify that our card payment terminal was fully operational at the time. The issue was with the cards being presented, rather than with our payment system, which meant that an alternative method of payment was required.
As part of our end-of-day procedure, we are unfortunately unable to leave open or unpaid accounts on our system. For this reason, when a reservation has not yet been checked in and payment cannot be processed by card, payment needs to be settled before we can complete the check-in and issue the room key.
In addition, the additional charges you incurred when withdrawing cash from ATMs were not charges made by us and are unfortunately outside of our control.
ATM operators and banks may apply their own withdrawal and currency-conversion fees. Depending on the currency and the option selected at the ATM, additional charges can also be applied by the guest’s bank or the ATM provider.
We are also sorry to hear that you were disappointed with how your concerns were handled at check-out. This is not the level of service we aim to provide, and we will take your comments regarding the communication and handling of your concerns seriously.
