Il YHA Grasmere Butharlyp Howe dista 10 minuti a piedi dal centro di Grasmere e appena 15 minuti a piedi dal Dove Cottage, dove visse William Wordsworth, e dal Lago di Grasmere. A peaceful stay close to Grasmere village and beautiful walking trails
One of the hostel's biggest strengths is its location. It's surrounded by beautiful countryside in a quiet setting, yet it's only a short walk from the centre of Grasmere. The village has several lovely cafés, independent shops and the famous Grasmere Gingerbread Shop, making it an excellent base for exploring the area. There's also a bus stop about 200 metres away, which is very convenient if you're travelling without a car.
The hostel also has a camping area, making it a good option for different types of travellers.
The reception staff were friendly and efficient, and I found the information leaflets around the hostel especially helpful. They provide plenty of ideas for walks, attractions and activities in the surrounding area, which is useful if you're visiting for the first time.
I stayed in an 8-bed female dorm. The room was spacious and included a sink and mirror, which made getting ready much easier. There were lockers available for some luggage, although not enough for every guest.
I added the breakfast buffet (around £12) and really enjoyed it. There was a good selection of hot and cold options, including a traditional English breakfast, croissants (plain and chocolate), muffins, yoghurt, granola, jams, juices, tea and coffee. It was a great way to start a day of hiking.
The bathrooms were the only part of my stay that didn't quite meet the same standard as the rest of the hostel. The toilets were slow to flush, there was an unpleasant smell at times, and the shower cubicles didn't have shelves for soap or shampoo, so everything had to be placed on the floor, which wasn't always as clean as I would have liked.
One important tip for future visitors is to download offline maps before arriving. Mobile signal becomes very limited just before the hostel and is unreliable throughout much of the surrounding area. Fortunately, the hostel provides free Wi-Fi in the communal areas, so it's easy to check the weather, plan hikes or download maps before setting off. Just bear in mind that Wi-Fi coverage in the bedrooms is likely to be limited.
Overall, I would recommend YHA Grasmere to travellers looking for a peaceful base close to nature while still being within easy walking distance of one of the Lake District's most charming villages. The location and breakfast were definitely the highlights of my stay.

Classic YHA experience
Location perfect in Grasmere up a slight incline and an old school lake district house with a lawn for camping.
Staff very welcoming and cheerful throughout and had a good experience all round.
Drying room and bike store really useful, as was the TV room. Nice guests staying which is the most important thing and long may that continue.
