Warm welcome, hearty portions, amazing food

We booked ahead as it was a bank holiday, and we surprised with how empty the pub was! It turned out they’d had a huge event the day before so the village was probably recovering! The staff were really welcoming and efficient. Before arriving we’d planned to all have the “burger and a drink for £16.95” menu.. but then we’d were swayed by options on the main menu. Beware the portions are very generous. It was a hot day and the bar manager judged my choice of pie when delivering it to the table! Who can miss the chance to try a hand formed shortcrust steak & ale pie!The onion rings are made to order and were some of the best I’ve ever had! The food was delicious. We took our time and ate it all as nothing deserved being left! A friendly warm thoughtful place with incredible food (and a huge range)! Thank you Royal Oak for making the first meal out of our holiday a delight!

Awesome food great service - a gem!

Absolutely delicious! Popped in after shopping and a lovely lady reserved us a booth. The calamari was soft with a crunchy crumb and a creamy chill dipping sauce!! My gammon was the best Ive ever had… so tasty with a bbq zing and the smoky pineapple was amazing! Chips and onion rings wow fish and chips was yummy lightest batter ever! The pudding we really didn’t need was so indulgent, Eton mess cream crunchy meringue and fruity zingy mess! So fabulous and the waitresses were lovely too! Thank you for a fabulous lunch… we’ll definitely be back and won’t tip you 3p next time ‍♀️ please support this great pub it’s a treasure

Well worth a visit

Fantastic place. The service was great the food was perfectly cooked. Good size portions, great value for money.

Mothers day meal.

Had a beautiful meal with my mum and daughter for mother's day today. The brie starter was really nice. And the hunters chicken and pallo chicken was delicious. The Eton mess and caramel cheesecake was also delicious. Would definitely be coming back again

Amazing Sunday Roast!

We stopped at short notice for Sunday lunch and were so glad we did. We were served one of the best roast dinners we’ve had in a long time. The beef was perfect and melt in the mouth with beautifully al dente and flavoursome vegetables with lashings of scrummy gravy. The staff made us feel very welcome and the atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed and friendly. We will be back!!
