Lovely stay

Excellent dog walkers hotel, lovely breakfasts and very friendly staff.
Set in beautiful countryside with loads to see and do.

Warm welcome

Recently stayed here for a work trip. Excellent stay and warmly welcomed by the owners, Clive and Mel. Food and beer were both excellent. The pie and mash in particular was one of the best I’ve ever had, and I found the prices very reasonable. During my stay, Karen and Kas stood out as wonderful ladies who are so friendly and contributed to the warm welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent and set me up for the long drive home. Will definitely return in the future.

avoid room 10/11

The rooms number's 10 and 11 are in a very poor state we stayed in room 10 the bed was broken ,window blind was broken as was one of the bedside lamp, and as for the bathroom the ceiling was flaking and black with mould .we were moved to another room and on the day we left the spineless owners gave one of there staff a bill for us of £45. POUND on top of what we had already paid.for being put into an other room yet the night before they were laughing and joking with us in the bar and never said a word just left it to one of there staff.
The best part of that stay was the two Karen's who work there the were absolutely brilliant they really made us feel welcome it's a shame the owners don't take a leaf out of there book. we refused to pay the extra due to the fact that the first was not up to standard this place could be a very nice hotel/pub if they spent some money on it.

Wonderful Welcome

I stayed at the Stanley Arms with my five year old boy and our dog. I’d booked here as I’d planned a few days exploring the Western Lakes and it seemed ideally placed.
We had a kingsize room, which was nice, clean and comfortable. Plenty space for clothes etc.
The food was good, solid pub classics with a few specials on the board. We are both nights and enjoyed our meals, you won’t go hungry eating here that’s for sure! The breakfast was nice and a good way to set up for a day’s exploring.
Deserving special mention though is the welcome we received here. The owners and staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming, making a real effort to engage with my boy and the dog. In fact, the boy is now obsessed with trying magic tricks after the owner showed him some of his tricks, he was so impressed! I understand that different people are pleased by different things when staying in a hotel, but being made to feel so welcome by owners and staff is always something that really hits the mark with me and it made our stay at the Stanley Arms special.
Oh, and that beer garden leading down to the river is brilliant!
