Comfortable stay near Harrogate.

We stayed for 3 nights in a compact but comfortable room. Booked directly with the hotel and had a flexible rate including breakfast for less money than one of the chains. Easy check in and ate in the garden on the first night. Food was excellent and service very good. The breakfasts are to die for. Great selection, cooked to order and enough to keep you going for the rest of the day. Plenty of coffee, tea and juice. The location is on the edge of Harrogate, but on a bus route to the centre. It is only a few minutes walk to RHS Harlow Carr garden which is a star attraction and well worth a visit. There are two pubs serving meals within a mile or so if you want to dine out. The staff were very good and it was great to see young people being given responsibility.

Great for couples night away

Stayed one night as a couple, the room was big, quirky, clean and a mix of modern / vintage. Menus and information booklets available in the room as well as tea / coffee. We had an evening meal downstairs, fast service and delicious food staff very helpful. Highly recommended for couples or families.

Musty and Cigarette smell stank the room out

Harrogate - Booked through our company website as we only tend to use Marriott or Hilton, so when I got there its a guest house. Reception took 10 minutes before someone came to book my in. Arrived at my room and was hit by the sheer smell of cigarettes (im a non smoker) the room was also very musty AND i mean really musty. I had to use a half can of Lynx to mask any kind of smell. The bedding and pillows were so bad I had to use my jumper to lay on. The toilet didnt flush and the room was a double but looked like they chucked a double bed in the attic as only the base of the bed you can stand. Either side your bending over. Im use to 4 and 5* not a 1 to 2 *
Only positive I think I can say was that I had so much to drink that I passed out pretty quick, but in the morning the reality of the musty smell and cigarette smell got me out of bed thats for sure.

Dining room disaster

Very disappointed with standards in the dining room. Squashed vegetables on the floor which hadn't been cleared before dinner. An unruly family in the dining room who allowed their children to throw Christmas baubles around the room and even joined in! No intervention by the staff. Dining floor had not been cleaned before breakfast. Dirty cleaning cloths hanging on radiators in public areas. Reluctant apology from the duty manager and no offer of goodwill.

In regards to your comments on the atmosphere and our management's response, we must note that our staff felt it necessary to speak with the party multiple times at the bar regarding the conduct to ensure other guests were not disturbed. While we apologize for any aspects of your stay that fell short, we do expect a mutual level of respect between our guests and our team.

FANTASTIC PLACE TO VISIT, DINE, DRINK AND SLEEP .

From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave you cannot fail to be impressed.
The exterior of the property looks great, it has plenty of parking.
The welcome at reception is warm and genuine. The whole of the ground floor is beautifully set out with a well stocked bar, various seating area's for eating, drinking, chatting and a lovey dedicated more formal dining area as well as a large function room. The bedrooms large, spotlessly clean, with very good beds and bedding. They have everything you need for overnighting in comfort or longer stays. The Menu's are large and varied and the food divine. The icing on the cake has to be the staff all working together, with a smile and so helpful. We are looking forward to our next night out or even better another stopover.
