Best ever

A truly delightful experience. Chris and Chris just the friendliest and most helpful hosts. The Horseshoe had everything you could want and more. The breakfast offered an amazing range of options, all of which are included in a single reasonable price and were superb. Five stars just isn't enough. Elaine and Kathi from Oz.

A great B&B.

We had a fabulous two night stay at The Smithy, which is very conveniently located an easy 3 mile drive from Hay on Wye. We stayed in the Paddock View room - the view from the balcony was stunning and we enjoyed watching the sheep and hens in the paddock at the end of the beautiful garden.
The room had a contemporary feel and was immaculately clean and comfortable. It had a fridge with water and fresh milk, good wifi, tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was great with a roll top bath, walk-in shower and lovely fluffy towels.
The breakfast…. oh the breakfast! We have never had such an extensive and high quality choice of breakfast whilst staying at a b&b. We had eggs freshly laid by the hens in the paddock with a mound of smoked salmon; fresh strawberries, raspberries and grapes; cheese and jalapeno sourdough toast, locally sourced sausages and bacon - I could go on. I wish we could have stayed longer so we could work our way through the menu and sample everything there was to offer.
Hosts Christine and Chris were very welcoming and so helpful with suggestions for places to eat and to visit. We will definitely book The Smithy if we are ever in the area again.

Fabulous 3 days in a beautiful area and in a superb B & B

Had a lovely 3 nights at this lovely property. Stayed in the The Horseshoe annexe, it was spacious, spotlessly clean and very well equipped and had a perfect covered patio to relax on, whatever the weather. Huge comfortable bed and the underfloor heating ensured you were comfy and relaxed.
Chris and Christine were superb hosts, friendly and helpful. t]The breakfasts were terrific, with plenty of choice, the scrambled egg was the best I have ever eaten.
Parking was good and the location was a perfect base to explore the area and a short drive into Hay on Wye and all it has to offer.
Highly recommended to anyone looking for a very well run B & B in a beautiful setting.

A Perfect Getaway

We stayed at the Smithy for 6 nights in "The Horseshoe". From the moment we arrived we felt very welcome. Chris and Christine are excellent hosts and have provided high-end accommodation. We loved the view from our room and it was spotlessly clean with everything we could need. The breakfasts are to die for! Such a fantastic choice and generous portions. Loved the fruit plate which we enjoyed each day. They were helpful in giving us tips as to where to visit locally which we found very useful. Would highly recommend.

Beautiful! Would stay again

Had such a wonderful stay here over the weekend. Such a beautiful location, especially in the summer. It was so peaceful and the views were amazing.
We had The Paddock room and it was spacious, clean and comfortable. Also the bathtub was amazing!
Chris and Christine were great hosts and so welcoming and lovely. Also, the breakfast was delicious. Would love to stay again!
