Fab start to our family Christmas!
Fabulous Breakfast with Santa, very busy but efficient service, well cooked and portioned breakfasts with activities for the young grandchildren.
Santa and his helpers were on top form and Santa had us mesmerised with his vanishing light balls. Definitely the highlight of our year at the Boshaw so far!!

Nice people, nice place, but need to rethink their early check in policy
It's a nice place and nice people.
In fact when we parked the car up for the day first thing a lovely chap welcomed us and offered to show us the room - we didn't want to bother him then, plus we were about to head on to our next leg - but should have taken up the kind offer because.....
Like any other business I'm sure, they'd prefer customers to book directly with them rather than through 3rd party booking sites that take a commission off what they ultimately get in their pocket.
The trouble is that they chose to deal with this with a policy that if you arrive early and have booked directly you can have free early check in - but if you've booked through a 3rd party website you've got to pay a £20 fee to check in early.
I'm not sure that's particularly well thought through though
As I've got to ask what does it say to the average customer who just books through booking.com as most people would for any other room booking anywhere?
To us it said, "We're going to make you sit in the bar with your luggage and buy drinks for 40 minutes as a welcome penalty because we still wanted you to find us and reserve on booking.com - as you did, but we'd actually prefer that you to book directly with us - although we didn't tell you because we're not allowed to, so we're showing you why you should now instead"
In truth we'd probably have sat in the bar and had drinks if we hadn't know about it - but knowing that other folks could go in their room early for free, whilst we'd have to pay £20 just because our booking was through booking.com leaves a bitter aftertaste.
Now the intention may have been to reward those people who do book directly with a free early check-in - and those who know this place or found their online advertising before booking.com's would get it for free.
First ask yourself, would you book a room through some pub's website or through a trusted place you'd used for booking rooms?
Also consider every coin has two sides and so for anyone who just books normally it feels like a £20 penalty, even if we didn't pay it, we bought drinks instead.
And yes, they got the drinks (that we would have bought anyway) but as people staying overnight, we ask ourselves if we'd go back - and whilst we were tempted with the larger rooms, the answer is we'd look for other places first simply because of that simple policy
So, this time, they got a booking from us (that they wouldn't have otherwise got because we found them on booking.com - not on the Internet), I'm sure they had commissions or fees to discounted off their payment. We declined the offer to check in early, so the £20 they didn't get, but the choice to advertise it actually had the reverse effect to turn us off from a future booking - rather than go for the nicer looking bigger room next time.
If the pub had spent more money marketing their website, then it'd have been clicked on first before 3rd party booking sites (that do pay to advertise and charge the pubs a fee to be found and booked through their site)
This is trying to have it both ways at the expense of the customer.
So if you find this and decide to go - remember to book directly if you want free early check in - otherwise expect to pay for it!
Small hospitality businesses like this need as much support as they can get, and I understand they would want to avoid booking fees - but if their in-house policies to try and work around these fees appear punitive to an average punter, then they need to be aware of the damage that's doing to themselves.

Lovely pub very friendly staff food was great bedroom small but had all the amenities spotless. Breakfast was awesome plenty of options. Will definitely book again as also dog friendly.

Lovely accommodation set in beautiful country setting.
5min drive to holmfirth ( there for a gig)
Staff so helpful and friendly.
Renovated rooms with en-suite.
Food in bar was excellent and full english breakfast was simply the best
Definitely stay again.

The room was clean and all the staff was excellent very friendly. Plenty of choice for breakfast and dinner..bar was very good
